SLIPPERY ROCK â€“ The Kane Wolves storybook season has come to an end. The 2014 Wolves, who regrouped from three midseason one-point losses to go on a postseason tear came up against a tough Sharpsville squad on Friday night and lost 50-14. The District 10 Champion Blue Devils scored 24 points in the final five minutes of the first half to blow open a close game.

The third annual "Shop Small" to promote Kane businesses at Christmastime is slated to launch Saturday-- the same day as the annual Santa Parade.
The Kane Area Development Center (KADC), which includes the Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring the parade and the "Shop Small" promotion.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Erin Vassallo, executive director of the KADC, said more than a dozen units will participate in the parade.
The Kane Wolves will try to go where no Wolvesâ€™ team has gone before when they take on the District 10 champion Sharpsville tonight. The game, which will be played at Slippery Rock Universityâ€™s Mihalik-Thompson Stadium beginning at 7 p.m., pits District 9â€™s 9-3 Wolves against the 10-3 Blue Devils.
Sally Jo Cleer, 78, of 171 Longview Dr., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
Born Feb. 7, 1936, in Sigel, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Sybil Wise Cook. In the spring of 1955, she married Clarence "Clem" Cleer in Kane.Â
Together, Sally and Clem owned and operated the Longview Inn in Kane for several years. Over the years, Sally also worked for Dr. Bentz, the Kane Community Hospital, Stackpole and Highlander Energy.
All alone for Thanksgiving?

The club on Thursday will host its annual "Linda Haight Thanksgiving Dinner" for anyone in the Kane community who needs a meal on "turkey day."
From noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, club members will deliver dinners in the Kane area. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, dinners will be served at the club at 238 Chase St. at Bayard Street. There is no charge for the dinners.
Walk-ins are welcome. No reservations are required.
Kane's opponent in the "Elite 8" state football playoff game Friday night-- is in familiar territory.
The Blue Devils have won nine District 10 Class A football titles-- eight in the last 19 years under head coach Paul Piccirilli.Â
Sharpsville, which won the state Class A football championship in 1997, will meet Kane on Friday at 7 p.m. at Slippery Rock University.
This will be the third consecutive week that Sharpsville has had a playoff game at Slippery Rock.
Lillian Leonard, 89, formerly of Kanesholm, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born April 8, 1925, inÂ Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Julius and Margaret Jonat Selig. On Dec. 18, 1948, in Buffalo, she married Ralph "Bud" Leonard who preceded her in death.
Lillian loved to sing in the church choir at St. Callistus Catholic Church where she was employed as the church secretary for many years. She also had worked at UPS, was employed as switchboard operator at the Kane Community Hospital and served as a volunteer at the Friends' Memorial Public Library.
Sally Cleer, 78, of 172 Longview Dr., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
