STATE COLLEGE - AccuWeather reports there is the potential for the coldest air in a couple of years for the Northeast and perhaps the Midwest during the first week of January 2013.
Betty R. Wynn, 86, formerly of Warren and the Jamestown area,Â passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she resided.
Born April 3, 1926, in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late John "Adam" and Elda Keafer Baum.Â She was married to Edward M. Reeves Jr. who preceded her in death.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Wynn was a cook at Davidsons Restaurant in Lakewood, N.Y.
Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne (David) Anderson of Erie and Barbara (Robert) Nichols of Warren; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ivan (Phyllis) Baum of James City.
Margaret R. Hammond Payne, 99, of Toad Hollow Rd., peacefully passed away to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.
She was born Dec. 19, 1913 in Sheffield, the daughter of the late John and Marie (Moore) Roth.
She was married to Alfred Hammond who predeceased her in 1985 and Lyle Payne who predeceased her in 2002.
Roger J. Klaiber Sr., 73, of 24 Old State Rd., Kane, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.
Born april 12, 1939, in St. Marys, he was a son ofÂ the late Howard and Helen Simbeck Klaiber.Â On Jan. 8, 1966, in Kane, he married Sandra Jones who survives.
A 1957 graduate of Kane High School, Roger worked at Stackpole for 15 years and later for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, from which he retired in 2001 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Klaiber was a lifetime member of the BPOE # 329 and enjoyed bowling, hunting, horseshoes andÂ NASCAR.
Clarence D. Clawson, 79, formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Sena Kean Manor.
Born May 21, 1933, at Lantz Corners, he was a son of Burt and Hazel Swanson Clawson.Â On Jan. 26, 1953, in Johnsonburg, he married Luella May Disque who preceded him in death.
Mr. Clawson was on the Peer Project Board at Sena Kean Manor and worked for 19 years as a projectionist at the Kane Family Drive In.Â He also was employed at Dresser's Manufacturing for 39 years and worked as a handyman and plumber for several years.
Thomas M. Castano, 58, of 315 Yarnall St., Kane, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Oct. 20, 1954 in Kane, he was the son of Samuel and Mary Ferraro Castano.
Mr. Castano had worked at Cera-Mag in Kane for several years.
Surviving are a sister, Connie Heckman of Kane and a brother, John Castano of James City; plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held in the near future at St. Callistus Cemetery and will be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice.

DUKE CENTER â€“ The Kane Lady Wolvesâ€™ basketball team took home the 41st Annual Otto-Eldred Holiday Tournament title with a 55-46 win over Sheffield on Saturday. The Lady Wolves won the tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
On Friday, Dec. 21, the students at Kane Area Elementary School had a dance, each student was asked to make a monetary donation or a pet item for the local SPCA.Â
Thomas J. Collin, 79, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Kane,Â passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2013 at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.

The Kane Wolves lost to Cameron County by 15 points last week in their final game before the holiday break. The Wolves took on the same Red Raider squad in the opening game of Thursdayâ€™s Sheffield Sports Boostersâ€™ Holiday Tournament, but this time the Kane squad gave the team from Emporium all they could handle. While Kane coach Brian Wymerâ€™s squad lost to Cameron County by a score of 64-55, the game was a one-point contest into the fourth quarter.
