SMETHPORT – Julie Sue Graham-Olson, 54, has been sentenced to McKean County Jail for using Hamlin Township money as her own while serving as the township’s secretary-treasurer for nearly four years.

Ed Moran: A true Kane track and field hero

(Editor’s note: Kane Girls’ Track and Field Coach Jim Sirianni recently created a display honoring Kane track great Ed Moran. The plaque, along with a framed picture and this article, will be on display outside of the Kane High School gymnasium.)

Ed Moran is the greatest male track athlete in the history of Kane Area High School. He graduated with the Kane High School Class of 1955. At the high school state championship meet, Ed placed second in the mile in 1953, placed third in the mile in 1954 and took fifth in the 880-yard run in his senior year of 1955.

Fire damages vacant house in Wetmore Township

4th Grade Musical is Thursday night

Fourth-grade students at the Kane Elementary School will present the class musical “Groovin’ With The Grimms” tonight at 7 p.m. at the Kane Middle School auditorium. Some of those taking part in the musical are, left to right: Harley Morris as “Willie Grimm,” Shane Ackley as “Jake Grimm,” music teacher Tara Black, Brandon Kelley as “The Fisherman” and Hailey M. Slater as “The Fisherman’s Wife.” Joining Blake in directing the musical are Kane’s fourth-grade teachers—Debbie Szymanski, Jackie Watts, Brigid Lundgren and Brittany Peterson.

Isabelle Lucille Carlson, 88, of 9716 Rte. 6, died early Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born Feb. 26, 1926 in Kane, to the late David and Florence Johnson Bloomquist. On March 15, 1943, she eloped and married the love of her life, Richard W. Carlson, who survives.
Issy was a beloved wife of 17 years and was a great homemaker who sold Dutchmaid Clothing for years. She was a member and a lay minister for many years at St. John's Episcopal Church in Kane.
