Wolves roll over Clarion-Limestone in regular season finale

STRATTANVILLE – The Kane Wolves ended October like they began it… with a victory. While the two games in between were heartbreaking one-point losses, the Wolves took advantage of a week eight bye and regrouped to end their regular season with a convincing 48-6 win over Clarion-Limestone in Strattanville on a rainy, cold Friday night.

Mt. Jewett library door-to-door fund drive is slated

MT. JEWETT – A door-to-door fundraising drive will take place next week in Mt. Jewett.
Debbie Deane, director of the Mt. Jewett Memorial Library on East Main street, will be joining members of the Board of Directors to canvass the community.
The group will be distributing yellow flyers at homes in Mt. Jewett to ask for donations for the library. The group will not be accepting cash donations during the door-to-door campaign.

Guilty plea in trophy elk-poaching case

A Bellefonte man has been sentenced to spend up to 18 months in jail and pay more than $20,000 in fines and costs after pleading guilty Wednesday to poaching three bull elk, one of them among the largest on record in Pennsylvania.
Frank Gordo Buchanan Jr., 25, pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of unlawful taking of big game, and one count each of unlawful taking of game, unlawful use of a vehicle to take game, and unlawful use of an artificial light to take game.

Kane wrestling club seeking donations to help build complex

The board of directors of the Kane Wrestling Club is asking for donations to help build a wrestling complex on a parcel of land that the club has recently purchased.
The club, which has been in existence since the mid-1970s, has been a significant part of the Kane community since that time. Hundreds of Kane area youths have been a part of the organization over the past four decades.

Lucille Harriett Lynch-Beebe, 89, of Biglerville, formerly of Kane, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at her son’s home. 
Born on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1925 in Wilcox, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P. and Emily Hallberg Eshbaugh. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Paul Stanko, Brad Stanko and Timothy Lynch and by her soul mate Anton Schulz-Peters.

Warren man injured in mishap with school bus

A Warren man sustained minor injuries Tuesday when his vehicle crossed the centerline on Route 6 in Hamlin Township and side-swiped an empty Kane school bus.
Cameron A. McIntosh, 19, of Warren was traveling east on Route 6 at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when he crossed a double yellow line while negotiating a right curve and side-swiped the westbound bus, State Police said.
After the impact, the vehicle slid into the south embankment of the highway.

Wolves not overlooking Lions in regular season finale

The Kane Wolves’ football team, which began the season 4-0, is looking to make a statement in Friday’s regular season finale against Clarion-Limestone. Coach Todd Silfies’ Wolves have gone 1-3 in their last four games, with each of the losses being one-point heartbreakers.
The Wolves have had 13 days to get the bad taste out of their mouths, with a bye during week nine of the schedule. For Coach Silfies and his staff, the break could not have come at a better time.
"After a week off, we are excited to get back out and compete to close out our regular season," he said.
