The covered bridge over Two-Mile Run at Wildcat Park near Ludlow is a popular summer gathering spot for families. The annual Arts and Crafts Show at the park is Oct. 3.
SMETHPORT â€“ A Mt. Jewett woman was jailed Thursday on charges that she stole over $20,000 from an elderly woman at a nursing home.

Lightning Kills Two Men, Third Man is Burned at JoJo
Two Bradford men died and a Tulsa, Oklahoma truck operator was rushed to Kane Community Hospital with burns received when lightning struck the boom of a truck. The workers were unloading pipe at the South Penn lease at JoJo shortly after noon.

Kane High fall sports teams got their official practices underway this week. Here, members of the Kane Wolves' football team run plays during Monday's two-a-days. With temperatures in the upper 80s, the athletes will get into playing shape quickly. The KHS Girls' golf team will compete in the first competition of the school year when they host Port Allegany on Thursday at the Kane Country Club.
This week's Take Me Back Tuesday picture features participants in girls' intramurals from the pages of the 1949 Hurri-Kane. According to the KHS yearbook, participation that year was a record high, with more than 175 girls participating in basketball, soccer, volleyball, mushball, field hockey, badminton, ping pong and archery. According to the caption, ten senior girls were chosen to take part in a district "Play Day" in Bradford.
