Mt. Jewett Memorial Public Library is having a chicken barbecue dinner on Oct. 21 from noon until 3 p.m. or until sold out. Dinner will be $8.Â
We are also having a Chinese Auction to raffle off several baskets that are being donated by local businesses and/or patrons. Dinner will consist of Chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll, dessert and a drink. Take out is available and we will deliver in town. All proceeds will benefit the library.

âBig Brotherâ will be watching Kane residents who haul brush to the brush dump at the rear of Glenwood Park on Hacker Street (Route 321).

This is how presiding Senior Trial Court Judge John Cleland of Kane labels the child sexual abuse case against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
BELLEFONTE â The "Tickle Monster" will be going to prison, most likely for the remainder of his life.
Jerry Sandusky, 68, convicted in June of molesting 10 young boys over a 15-year period, was sentenced Tuesday to spend a minimum of 30 years in prison.Â
Senior Trial Judge John Cleland of Kane handed down the sentence at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
One of the victims who spoke in court Tuesday said Sandusky called himself the "Tickle Monster" in an alleged 1998 incident in a shower when the victim was only 11.Â

Reserved handicapped parking on residential streets in Kane has been eliminated-- again.
The Kane Borough Council voted 5-2 Monday to repeal an ordinance covering residential handicap parking spaces.
Council President Howard Kane joined with Councilwoman Janet Bard and Councilmen Harold Hallberg, Bill Tunall and Dennis Drost to repeal the ordinance adopted in June. Councilwoman Holly Harris and Councilman John Gentilman cast the lone negative votes.
The Kane Borough Council agreed Monday to terminate its part-time animal control officer-- Karen Klaiber-- and its holding kennel.
Beginning today, Kane residents are urged to contact the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Bradford to report to stray cats and dogs.
Councilman Harold Hallberg, chairman of council's Public Safety Committee, said an analysis shows that the borough is spending more than $7,000 a year on animal control.
SMETHPORTâThe McKean County Board of Commissioners didnât need to look far to find a new personnel director.
Kathy Roche, who has served as the director of the county Tax Claim Bureau for six years, now will also take on duties of the county personnel chief.
Roche has a desk in both offices, which are a few steps away from each other on the first floor of the county courthouse in Smethport.
Joe DeMott, chairman of the Board of Commissioners, announced the selection of Roche for personnel director during a board meeting Monday at the courthouse.
SMETHPORT â Preparations for the 2013 budget are under way in McKean County.
Joe DeMott, chairman of the county Board of Commissioners, said Monday that the board has been âscheduling meetingsâ with department heads to look a budget requests for next year.
He said the budget meetings are with heads of the âlarger departments,â which will have a major impact on the next spending plan for the county.

Zach Hadfield and Dawn Saquin were selected 2012 Kane Homecoming King and Queen. Saquin was announced as Homecoming Queen during halftime of the Wolves' 17-14 victory over the Elk County Catholic Crusaders on Friday night, while Hadfield was crowned during Saturday night's Homecoming Dance. Nearly 300 students and guests attended the dance.
