November 30th
The Rev. Philip Pinczewski (left), chairman of the board for the Kane Food Pantry, accepts a check for $500 from Barb Gadley-Cheeks (right), secretary of the Kane Eagles Club. The Eagles Club also has donated non-perishable items to the Food Pantry. Rev. Pinczewski is pastor of the St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane. The Food Pantry is located in the basement of the church rectory at Chase and Haines streets.

SMETHPORT â The defunct Kane Magnetics plant on Elk Avenue is among 123 properties up for auction Monday at the McKean County Judicial Sale.
Kathy Roche, director of the county Tax Claim Bureau, said the minimum bids for the properties sold at the Judicial Sale cover only the âcostsâ associated with preparing for the event.
Sales of the limited edition "Kane-opoly" game are booming, according to Sue Holt, chairman of the Kane Sesquicentennial Committee.

MT. JEWETT â A Mt. Jewett teenager is organizing a local campaign to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Andrew Carlson, 17, said he is collecting cash, toys, non-perishable food, bottled water and other items to help the victims of the storm.
November 27th
SMETHPORT â For many years, McKean County has had two elected jury commissioners to oversee the process by which jurors are selected.
These jobs soon may be abolished under a resolution before the McKean County Board of Commissioners.
It may not be the winning Powerball ticket, but the prize awarded Tuesday by Tops Friendly Markets will provide groceries for a Kane woman and her family for an estimated 2œ years.

Sixteen hunters entered their bucks in the Kane Fish and Game Club's annual Mr. Big Buck Contest held on Monday night.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the newly opened Untangled Salon.Â
Santa Claus stands and rings bells as he greets wide-eyed children along the route of the Santa Parade held Saturday in Kane. Mrs. Claus and elves accompanied Santa on one of the floats in the parade sponsored by the Kane Chamber of Commerce.

JAMES CITY â With just one paved road leading to James City, there is a chance the community could be sealed off in the event of a major accident at the lone entrance.
Because of this possibility, Highland Township Fire Chief Bill Edinger believes the township supervisors should develop an âevacuation planâ for James City.
