December 30th
On Friday, Dec. 21, the students at Kane Area Elementary School had a dance, each student was asked to make a monetary donation or a pet item for the local SPCA.Â
December 27th
SMETHPORT – The McKean County Commissioners adopted the 2013 budget in their final meeting of 2012, held Thursday at the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport. Commissioners Joseph DeMott and Al Pingie voted to approve the budget, while commissioner Clifford Lane voted against the resolution.
EMPORIUM – The Emporium Borough Police reported that on Dec. 27, 2012 at 9:51 a.m., they along with the Emporium Fire Department and the Emporium Ambulance Service were dispatched to a residential fire at 370 E. Allegany Ave. with one person trapped inside.
December 25th
The 4-year-olds at Kane Community Preschool were surprised by a visit with Santa. Santa delivered presents to the kids for being such good boys and girls all year.
December 21st
Eleven acts entertained the students and faculty of the Kane Middle School at Friday’s talent show. The show was hosted by KAMS students Connor Crowley and Madison Selan, who kept the crowd laughing between acts.
December 20th
MT. JEWETT – A local effort to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy is winding down.
A snowstorm is coming to the Kane area today-- the first official day of the winter season.
December 19th
MT. JEWETT – The Mt. Jewett Borough Council voted 4-0 Wednesday to seek a grant to upgrade the East End Pump Station.
December 18th
Kane Borough Police Chief Brian Hillard is seeking a review of school security measures.
Staff members in the Kane Area School District are urged to "reach out to all of our students" and make sure they know "there is more good in this world than evil."
