Numerous studies have shown that "buying locally" strengthens the economic base for a community.
That's why Kane area residents are being asked to show more support for their own local hospital.
"We really need to stick together and pull together," Gary Rhodes said Thursday. He has worked at Kane Community Hospital (KCH) for 25 years and has been the chief executive officer (CEO) for the past 16 years.
Donations have been rolling in to help cover the cost of repairs at the skate/bike facility at Glenwood Park in Kane.
More than $4,000 has been raised so far for the work at the wooden ramps.Â
Until work is completed and the facility passes inspection by an insurance representative, the borough continues to mark the skate/bike ramps off limits to riders.
Two events to assist the skate/bike park are set for today. Demonstrations and music will be featured at the site from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
