Despite high unemployment and a dismal economy, adults still want to play with their âtoys.â
For this reason, Mountain Motorsports of Kane is expanding its operation at 300 N. Fraley St.
âOur business has been growing and we need additional space,â Jon Sklar, company owner, said in explaining the basis for the expansion.
A 30x44-foot building now is under construction at the rear of the showroom and service area at Mountain Motor Sports.
Sklar said the addition would provide more âshop spaceâ for the service and repair of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and snowmobiles.

MT. JEWETT â Mt. Jewett Councilman Brett Morgan has been asked to resign due to alleged inappropriate remarks made on stage at the Mt. Jewett Swedish Festival last month.
Jim Troutman and Francis Auriemmo Jr. of Mt. Jewett both have called for the removal of Morgan from the borough government. They called for Morgan's resignation Tuesday at a meeting of the borough council.
According to Troutman, Morgan took the Center Street stage at the Swedish Festival on Friday, Aug. 10 and mocked his business-- Troutman Sanitation.
JOHNSONBURG - Francis Anthony Milliard, 54, of Ridgway, currently incarcerated on arson and arson-related charges for his alleged role in setting two Elk County house fires, as well as charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from the beating of a Ridgway man, was in District Court in Johnsonburg Wednesday where he waived his preliminary hearing on new charges of felony firearm possession and violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetics Act (CSDDCA).

Will there be a designated leader for the Wetmore Township road crew?
This question may be answered Sept. 18 when the township Board of Supervisors meets with the townshipâs two-man road crew to discuss the issue.
The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at the township building on Spring Street in East Kane. Steve Dyne, chairman of the three-member Board of Supervisors, said the meeting would be open to the public.

It was like staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.
Thatâs what our brave volunteer firefighters must have thought Wednesday during an 11-hour emergency at the scene of a chemical tanker truck rollover in the heart of Kane.
âWe never know what weâre getting into,â Tim Holt, chief of the Kane Volunteer Fire Department, said in commenting on the harrowing experience. âVolunteer firefighters put their lives on the line for the community. Theyâre always âright thereâ when theyâre needed even though they know there are risks.â

The evacuation of 1,000 Kane residents Wednesday following a tanker truck rollover is believed to be the largest ever in McKean County.
âIt was probably the largest evacuation,â County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Bruce Manning said Thursday. âI canât remember anything bigger.â
Manning, who was on the scene Wednesday and returned Thursday to Kane to confer with Kane fire chief Tim Holt, said he believes the evacuation exceeded a movement of residents in 1972 due to flooding from Hurricane Agnes.
RIDGWAY - New charges, including multiple drug offenses and illegal possession of firearms, have been filed against Francis Anthony Milliard, 54, of Ridgway, currently incarcerated on arson and related charges in connection with two residential fires in Elk County, as well as charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from Milliard's alleged beating of a Ridgway man.

An estimated 1,000 Kane residents were evacuated Wednesday after a tanker truck loaded with butane rolled on its side near Greeves and Fraley streets.
Bruce Manning, director of the McKean County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), said the tanker from the Elkhorn Propane Company of Warren carried 8,400 gallons of "liquid butane under pressure."
He said the evacuation was necessary as a safety precaution before tedious work began to transfer the butane to a Crossett tanker.
RIDGWAY - The preliminary hearing for Francis Anthony Milliard, 54, of Ridgway, charged in connection with two area arsons as well as the attempted murder of a Ridgway man, resulted in those charges being upheld by District Judge George A. "Tony" King in Elk County Court on Wednesday.
One person was killed and another was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday on Route 6, just west of the former Lobo Inn.
Bernice A. Pierson, age 57, of 511 Barden Brook Rd., Eldred, died in the crash. The injured passenger, Meghan C. Pierson, age 24, of the same address, was flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie with moderate injuries.
