The Highland Township Water and Sewer Authority decided at their regular monthly meeting to seek the help of an outside organization to stop a proposed injection well. Regular authority business was taken care of in a matter of minutes but the meeting lasted nearly 90 minutes with the majority being a teleconference call with Ben Price of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund [CELDF].

SMETHPORT â€“ A total of 29 properties with unpaid taxes sold by auction Monday at the McKean County Judicial Tax Sale at the courthouse in Smethport.

Persons are violating Kane borough ordinances by illegally dumping furniture, carpeting and other junk at the site of the trash recycling bins at Glenwood Park on Hacker Street.
Rodger, a basset hound owned by Cindy and Joe Parker, stopped by to visit the McKean County SPCA tree at Friendsâ€™ Memorial Public Library to drop off his donation.Â The public is invited to select an ornament from the tree.Â Each ornament has a picture of dogs and cats available for adoption, and suggestions for donation items for the SPCA.
The Rev. Philip Pinczewski (left), chairman of the board for the Kane Food Pantry, accepts a check for $500 from Barb Gadley-Cheeks (right), secretary of the Kane Eagles Club. The Eagles Club also has donated non-perishable items to the Food Pantry. Rev. Pinczewski is pastor of the St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane. The Food Pantry is located in the basement of the church rectory at Chase and Haines streets.
SMETHPORT â€“ The defunct Kane Magnetics plant on Elk Avenue is among 123 properties up for auction Monday at the McKean County Judicial Sale.
Kathy Roche, director of the county Tax Claim Bureau, said the minimum bids for the properties sold at the Judicial Sale cover only the â€ścostsâ€ť associated with preparing for the event.
Sales of the limited edition "Kane-opoly" game are booming, according to Sue Holt, chairman of the Kane Sesquicentennial Committee.
