November 13th
There's no property tax increase in the proposed 2013 Kane borough budget.
The Kane Borough Council voted 6-1 Tuesday to adopt a tentative general fund budget of $1,378,000.
Council President Howard Kane endorsed the proposal along with Councilwomen Janet Bard and Holly Harris and Councilmen Harold Hallberg, Bill Tunall and Dennis Drost.Â
November 12th
The Kaneâs Intergenerational Daycare Service (K.I.D.S.), which is operated by the Lutheran Home at Kane in a separate facility on the site, is a new Kane United Fund recipient agency.
 K.I.D.S. provides a safe and constructive learning for children ages six weeks to five years. The daycare provides meals and snacks, crafts, computer labs, games and intergenerational activities as well as transportation to local pre-school programs. An affiliated program offers after-school care to school age children.Â

Kane Community Hospital and the Kane Area School District are partners in a âwellness programâ for young students.
November 9th
NANSEN â No one was injured Friday morning when a fire destroyed the cab of a tanker truck on Route 66 near Nansen in Highland Township.
The tanker was loaded with 4,500 gallons of liquid wax, according to Bill Edinger, chief of the Highland Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The Kane Area Soccer Association (KASA) opposes a proposal that calls for the school district to either buy or lease athletic fields at the borough's Glenwood Park.
The Kane School District is looking for a new instructor for the Alternative Education program that resumed operation in Kane just 10 weeks ago.

JAMES CITY â The Highland Water and Sewer Authority has gone on record in favor of a public hearing on a proposed "injection well" for the disposal of gas well production fluids.
Seneca Resources is seeking a permit from the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to convert an existing depleted gas well into an "injection well."Â
Nothing can entice an emergent reader or even an established one more than tantalizing new books. This year on Nov. 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, and 16, the Kane Elementary School Library and the PTO will host its annual book fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the book fair will be open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the school library. This event is held in conjunction with parent-teacher conferences.

Voters in the Kane area gave solid support Tuesday to Republican Mitt Romney over incumbent Democrat Barack Obama in the presidential election.
Based on final, but unofficial totals, voters favored in Romney in 10 of 12 polling places in the Kane area.
