November 6th
Major news outlets reported an Obama win late Tuesday night.
Students in all four second-grade classes at the Kane Elementary School participated Tuesday in a "Mock Election" for president of the United State. Wearing red, white and blue patriotic visors, the students include, left to right: Cole Walker, Cora Jekielek, Jayna Johnson and Hillary McClatchy. It was a close race for president in the "Mock Election" with incumbent Democrat Barack Obama defeating Republican Mitt Romney by a vote of 52-48.
The Kane Chamber of Commerce hosted their Annual Election Day Soup Luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kane Area Community Center.Â
As of 7 p.m., polls are closed in a total of six states. Mitt Romney has won Indiana, a red state President Obama won by one point in 2008, as well as Kentucky, giving him 19 electoral votes so far.
Obama can claim victory so far in one state where the polls have closed, Vermont, for three electoral votes.
Polls have closed in Georgia and South Carolina as well, but results have yet to come in.
Kane area residents, don't forget to cast your vote in today's general election. The polls are open until 8 p.m.

The Presidential race between incumbent Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney highlights this Election Day in the Kane area.
Polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight.
November 4th
MT. JEWETT – The Mt. Jewett Rotary Club presented prizes Saturday at its annual Halloween Costume Contest at the Mt. Jewett Fire Hall.
The contest followed the traditional Halloween parade on Main Street (Route 6) from the Hamlin Bank parking lot to the exit driveway for the fire hall.
November 2nd
Silas Plants (left) and Lexie Haight (right), both kindergarten students at the Kane Elementary School, remind area residents to turn their clocks back one hour when they go to bed tonight. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.
Dressed in Western outfits that included cowboy hats, more than 50 participated Friday in the Church Women United program.
November 1st
On Thursday, Nov. 8, everyone will have an opportunity to see renowned local artist and woodturner, Jack Northrop, at Friends' Memorial Public Library at 7 p.m. Mr. Northrop will demonstrate his talent turning several small bowls and possibly, a pen, in the Al Forman Meeting Room downstairs in the library.
