âGhostsâ in the front yard greet Halloween visitors to this house at 7 McClellan Ave. in Mt. Jewett. The annual âtrick or treatâ in Mt. Jewett is set for next Tuesday, Oct. 30.
SMETHPORT â The McKean County share of Marcellus Shale money hasnât yet arrived but municipalities and organizations already are reaching out for a piece of the pie.

The Kane Rotary Club honored the Kane Volunteer Fire Department with an "appreciation dinner" Tuesday at the fire hall.
October 22nd
Mike London, athletic director of Kane Area School District, announced that a meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 for qualifying athletes to order their Kane Wolves varsity jacket. The meeting will be held in Room 108 during fifth period.
Athletes who have lettered at least two years in one sport or one year in at least two sports are eligible to purchase a jacket. A deposit of $60 must accompany the order. The deposit may be made by check payable to the Kane High School Athletic Association or by cash.
Join the Kane Area Development Center on Oct. 27 between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to test drive a Ford Vehicle from Zook Motors. For each test drive, $20 will be donated to our community charity and development projects. Get out to drive on October 27th and to enjoy community events around town. Community Chili contest, vendors, pumpkin carving contest, children's pumpkin painting, apple cider press, apple bobbing, hay rides, crafts, games and prizes.

JOHSONBURG â On Wednesday, Oct. 17 students from St. Marys Catholic Elementary, Johnsonburg Elementary and Kane Elementary participated in the Forest Awareness Program and toured the Pennsylvania Woodmobile at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall. The Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group (AHUG) and the Pennsylvania Hardwood Development Council (HDC) brings the programs to the region.

The Kane School Board held a reception last week to welcome the new staff members in the school district.

Not many employees enthusiastically say they love their job.
Beth Lenaway, the new director of the Kane Senior Center, is an exception.
âI just love what Iâm doing,â Lenaway said with a tone of vim and vigor. âItâs a very rewarding job.â

Lenaway has replaced Amanda Blankenship at the director of the Kane Senior Center on Fraley Street in Uptown Kane. Blankenship reportedly has returned to college to pursue a degree in nursing.

Kane's two senior cheerleaders, Tina Moore and Alison Packard, present a check to Sue Coulter, far left, for the Susan G Komen Fund. The money was raised by the cheerleaders in conjunction with their Pink Week. Cancer survivors Matt Boyer, Brenda Emer, Donna Lingenfelter, and Collin Alexis also took part in the presentation.
