Airport board hires firm to seek tenants for building

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP—The Bradford Regional Airport Authority is hoping a major real estate company will be able to stir up interest in rentals for its multi-tenant industrial complex.
Acting at a meeting Wednesday at the airport on Route 59 in Lafayette Township, the authority approved a marketing agreement with Recckio Real Estate and Development of Williamsville, N.Y., a suburb of Buffalo.

A snafu has apparently killed a project to repair three tennis courts and the basketball court at Evergreen Park in Kane.
According to a report reviewed Monday at a Kane Borough Council meeting, the apparent low-bidder for the work failed to meet specifications.

Lantz Corners sewer project is nearing completion

HAZEL HURST – The long-awaited Lantz Corners sewage collection project is nearing completion.
"The project is approximately 87 percent complete," Dan Slagle said Monday night in a report to the Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors.

Silhouettes takes over Cochran hair styling site

Since 1986, Joyce Cochran has operated the Cochran Styling Salon on the ground floor of the New Thomson House at Fraley and Greeves streets in Kane.
The site now is the location of the new Silhouettes Studio hair styling business operated by Sherry Marconi.

Mt. Jewett native to appear on 'prime-time' television program

They’re will be plenty of drama when Mt. Jewett native Lacy Conant appears on a half-hour national television show Wednesday as she and her fiancée shop for a “row-home” in Baltimore.
The previously-filmed “House Hunters” episode will air on the HGTV channel during "prime time" at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Local bicyclist, 86, is hurt when hit by car

Joseph S. Wolfe of Greendale Road in Wetmore Township has a daily ritual.
Every morning-- weather permitting-- the 86-year-old man rides his bicycle several miles to Kane and back.
For his own safety while pedaling, Wolfe wears a backpack that bears a patch of a fluorescent yellow shirt and a helmet.

Woman who lost all in fire has incurable disease

Sometimes life just isn't fair.
About a year ago, Ashley Deane Asel, 29, of Wetmore Township was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis-- an incurable disease that affects the central nervous system.
Just over a week ago, she lost all her belongings and those of her two young daughters in a fire that gutted her house on South Settlement Road.
"Everything's gone," Asel said Sunday.

Diplomas handed out at Kane High School commencement

Diplomas were awarded Friday evening at the 124th commencement ceremony at Kane Area High School.
A total of 90 seniors received their diplomas at the two-hour ceremony at the school auditorium. Two other members of the Class of 2014 did not participate in commencement.
A diploma also was presented to Robert Farnsworth Sr., who left Kane High before graduation to join the U.S. Navy and fight in the Korean War.
