Kane Elks Lodge holding Flag Day ceremony

Kane Elks Lodge #329 will hold their annual Flag Day Ceremony tomorrow at the Evergreen Park gazebo across from the lodge on Chestnut Street. The 2 p.m. ceremony will be held inside the lodge in the event of rain.
Flag Day holds special significance to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, as each lodge holds an observance of the day that commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on Jan. 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress.

Ground is broken for new housing office building

SMETHPORT – A ceremony Thursday marked the breaking of ground for a new Smethport office for the McKean County Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
"A Partnership In Housing, Inc.," a non-profit organization, is the developer of the building. The three-story building will house the Redevelopment and Housing Authority and another tenant-- The Guidance Center of Bradford.

Dave Westerburg resigns from school board

A key member of the Kane School Board has resigned.
The resignation of Dave Westerburg, who headed the board's Finance/Operations Committee, was announced Thursday at a school board meeting.

Issuance of Highland 'injection well' permit upheld

The federal Environmental Appeals Board (EAB) has upheld the issuance of a permit to Seneca Resources for a brine-disposal "injection well" in Highland Township.
EAB judges Randolph Hill, Catherine McCabe and Kathie Stein have denied a review of the Jan. 28 decision by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to issue the permit to Seneca.

Airport board hires firm to seek tenants for building

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP—The Bradford Regional Airport Authority is hoping a major real estate company will be able to stir up interest in rentals for its multi-tenant industrial complex.
Acting at a meeting Wednesday at the airport on Route 59 in Lafayette Township, the authority approved a marketing agreement with Recckio Real Estate and Development of Williamsville, N.Y., a suburb of Buffalo.

SMETHPORT – The McKean County Board of Commissioners two weeks ago pledged $300,000 for a second multi-tenant industrial complex at the Bradford Regional Airport.

Snafu kills project to repair Kane tennis courts

A snafu has apparently killed a project to repair three tennis courts and the basketball court at Evergreen Park in Kane.
According to a report reviewed Monday at a Kane Borough Council meeting, the apparent low-bidder for the work failed to meet specifications.

Lantz Corners sewer project is nearing completion

HAZEL HURST – The long-awaited Lantz Corners sewage collection project is nearing completion.
"The project is approximately 87 percent complete," Dan Slagle said Monday night in a report to the Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors.
