BRADFORD â A preliminary hearing for suspended Kane police chief Brian Hillard will not take place today as scheduled.
A spokesman for Bradford District Court Judge Dominic Cercone Jr. said Tuesday that the hearing has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
A âStranger Danger Awarenessâ program will be held at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the Kane Middle School auditorium.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will attend the presentation.
The goal set for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile stop on Monday in Kane was to collect 32 full units of blood.
MT. JEWETT â The Mt. Jewett Borough Council plans to "explore" a possible sale of the borough water system to a private company.
SMETHPORT â A change in a budget for federal funding is expected to help the borough of Kane complete renovations at Evergreen Park.
JOHNSONBURG â Friday morning, area residents were invited to a tour of the J5 paper machine at Domtar in Johnsonburg. The tour was offered as part of Domtar Manufacturing Day, during which mill officials offer a closer look at their production process and history.
The state Department of Education has released tentative "performance" scores for Kane schools.
Under the new state "School Performance Profile," each school in the district has received a ranking between zero and 100 to reflect its achievement.
The federal government shutdown has prompted the eviction of campers in the Allegheny National Forest (ANF).
Allegheny Site Management (ASM), a private company from Bradford, has been directed by the U.S. Forest Service to "evict everyone" and "close all gates" to eight campgrounds it manages in the ANF.

Going into a hospital with Brenda Emer was like being with a "rock star."
"Everyone knew her," Amy Geer said. "And everyone loved her."
Geer is one of many friends who is paying tribute to Emer, a James City resident who died late Tuesday afternoon following a courageous and miraculous 16-year battle with breast cancer.
The 10th annual Pink Power Day will be observed Friday in Kane.
The special day is held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
