JAMES CITY â€“ The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) heard adamant opposition Tuesday against a proposed "injection well" for the disposal of drilling fluids.
LANTZ CORNERS â€“ The McKean County Planning Commission met Tuesday and approved the consolidation of three parcels into one upon which will be built a Nittany Minit Mart. The parcels, owned by Tetons LLC, of Curtisville, will be leased by Nittany for a 25-year period, and is located near the intersection of Route 219 and Route 6 in Lantz Corners.

A crew is taking advantage of unusually mild early December weather to begin work to trim trees along Route 66 in the Allegheny National Forest south of Kane. The falling branches from the trimming are put through a â€śchippingâ€ť machine on the berm of the road. The wood chips are deposited on the forest floor. One-lane traffic is maintained with the use of automated electronic signals instead of human â€śflaggers.â€ť

RUSSELL CITY â€“ Miraculously, no one was injured Friday morning when a box truck collided with a trailer hauling a crane on Route 66 just west of Russell City in Elk County.
