The Kane Borough Council voted 5-1 Monday to name a deputy property tax collector.
The Kane deputy collector is Becky Gullifer, the current tax collector for Wetmore Township.
Gullifer would handle borough property tax collections only if elected Kane Tax Collector Marianne Rook becomes incapacitated.
Money has been secured for a body camera for use by the Kane Borough Police Department.
Lynda Schul of Janeway Street said Monday that a recent $165 donation from Alaska would be sufficient to buy the first body camera for the Kane Police Department.
Speaking at a meeting of the Kane Borough Council, she said the donation is coming from a friend of her son, Lance. She said Lance, a 1989 graduate of Kane Area High School, is a police officer in Colorado.

The borough of Kane has submitted five applications for funds from the county's pot of Act 13 revenue linked with Marcellus Shale gas well drilling activities.
In addition, the Kane Volunteer Fire Department has submitted another application.
The Kane applications are among 18 new funding requests submitted for review by the McKean County Planning Commission.Â
The McKean County Board of Commissioners has designated the planning board to review and rank the applications. The commission previously received just three applications to rank.Â
For the past four years, Ed Gadley of Kane has been a regular bidder at auctions involving storage units.
He's now turning his hobby into a business.
His "LIttle Black Egg Variety/Consignment Shop" will open Jan. 15 at 14 Greeves St. in Kane.
Gadley and his wife, Jaeme plan to operate the store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday from from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bob Gaetano is the new superintendent of the Kane area School District.
The Kane School Board voted 9-0 Thursday to hire Gaetano, who now serves as the principal of the Loyalsock Township Middle School near Williamsport.
Board President Claire Ann Buckley joined with board members John Ball, Dick Coleman, Susan Grolemund, Krista Jamerson, Scott Paul, Linda A. Anderson, Tom Kerek and Keith Hastings in approving the new superintendent.

The student-produced video was shown Thursday at a meeting of the Kane School Board at the middle school auditorium.
Brian Wymer, business and technology teacher at the high school, and high school senior Tyler Blankenship presented the video at the meeting.

Payne, who began duties Dec. 9, said he is going through a "discovery process" to "see what we have" in the borough of Kane.
"There are a lot of positives in Kane," Payne said. "We have a lot to be thankful for."
