Bradford man charged with murder in shooting death of his son-in-law

BRADFORD – A Bradford businessman is charged with murder in the shooting death of his son-in-law.
Stephen Daniel Stidd, 62, of 725 E. Main St., Bradford, is accused of criminal homicide in the death of Melvin Daniel Bizzarro, 43.
According to the criminal complaint filed with Bradford District Court Judge Dom Cercone, Stidd shot Bizzarro about 9:30 a.m. Friday behind Togi’s Restaurant at 412 E. Main St., Bradford.

Fire-damaged house in Kane is demolished

A fire-damaged house at 432 Tionesta Ave. in Kane was demolished Friday.
Brian Owens Excavating of Clearfield demolished the two-story house, which was extensively damaged  by a fire Nov. 7. Debris was hauled to the Casella landfill in Hutchins.
Holly Lubert Gausman is the owner of the house and property. She and her four children were not home when the fire erupted at the house at Tionesta Avenue at Maple Street in the borough.

Johnsonburg purchases new fire truck

JOHNSONBURG – Designated Engine Rescue 231, a new fire truck was delivered to the Johnsonburg Volunteer Fire Department on Thursday.
The new truck, which cost the department approximately $462,000, made its way from a factory in Ebensburg to Johnsonburg Thursday, giving the Johnsonburg Volunteer Fire Department six firefighting vehicles within its fleet.

More information is needed on McDonald’s in Kane

A developer from Ohio reportedly still is interested in building a new McDonald’s restaurant at 300 N. Fraley St. in Kane.
However, an incomplete list of documents is holding up approval from the McKean County Planning Commission.
Speaking at a commission meeting earlier this week, Assistant County Planner Laura Lord said the developer has yet to provide a land survey with the required “professional” stamp.

Sean Perry Productions latest premiere set for Saturday

Picture a movie premiere, a grand old theater, lots of actors, friends and family of those involved. No, it’s not Hollywood or New York City, it’s Warren, where the latest Sean Perry Productions movie will premiere on Saturday night.
"The Homebodies" will be the highlight of a Sean Perry Productions triple feature held Saturday evening at Warren’s Struthers Library Theatre. The film is in the horror genre, a favorite of the writer/director, Kane resident Sean Perry.

Wolfe again heads Highland Township Board of Supervisors

JAMES CITY – Jim Wolfe of Russell City has been re-elected as chairman of the Highland Township Board of Supervisors.
Paul Burton Sr. of James City is the vice chairman.
They were selected earlier this month when the board held its annual reorganizational meeting at the township building in James City.
Joe Milstead of James City is the third supervisor on the board.

will be nominated for an Oscar has been announced. Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman
lead the nominations list with nine each. Meryl Streep nabbed her 19th nomination,
and Bradley Cooper earned his third consecutive acting nod. Four Brits were
nominated this year in the Best Acting categories, Felicity Jones has been nominated
along with fellow British actress Rosamund Pike and Eddie Redmayne and Benedict

Accidental fire destroys Taft Road home

ST. MARYS – A Wednesday morning fire that destroyed a Taft Road residence in St. Marys has been ruled accidental with no suspicious circumstances suspected.
The Crystal Fire Department was dispatched around 10:33 a.m. on Wednesday for a reported chimney fire at 162 Taft Rd., however upon arriving at the scene they encountered a fully engulfed two-story wood frame structure. In addition, heavy smoke could be seen from the road.
CFD Chief Bill Kraus said the home is a total loss with damage estimated at $250,000.

Former McKean County sheriff cited for corruption of minors

BRADFORD – A former McKean County sheriff has been cited for corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to a 17-year-old juvenile.
In a report filed Wednesday, Bradley Allen Mason, 52, of Bradford, is charged with two counts of corruption of minors (a first degree misdemeanor) and one count of selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to minors (a third degree misdemeanor).
The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police when an unrelated civil dispute involving the victim was brought to the attention of law enforcement.

Multiple fire units respond to Taft Road fire

ST. MARYS - A structure fire broke out Wednesday morning shortly after 10:30 a.m. at 162 Taft Rd. in St. Marys. Multiple units from St. Marys and Johnsonburg responded to the fire. Preliminary reports list Fox Township and Ridgway on standby as well.
