HAZEL HURST â€“ The long-awaited Lantz Corners sewage collection project is nearing completion.
"The project is approximately 87 percent complete," Dan Slagle said Monday night in a report to the Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors.
Since 1986, Joyce Cochran has operated the Cochran Styling Salon on the ground floor of the New Thomson House at Fraley and Greeves streets in Kane.

Sometimes life just isn't fair.
About a year ago, Ashley Deane Asel, 29, of Wetmore Township was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis-- an incurable disease that affects the central nervous system.
Just over a week ago, she lost all her belongings and those of her two young daughters in a fire that gutted her house on South Settlement Road.
"Everything's gone," Asel said Sunday.
Diplomas were awarded Friday evening at the 124th commencement ceremony at Kane Area High School.
A total of 90 seniors received their diplomas at the two-hour ceremony at the school auditorium. Two other members of the Class of 2014 did not participate in commencement.
A diploma also was presented to Robert Farnsworth Sr., who left Kane High before graduation to join the U.S. Navy and fight in the Korean War.
A Kane man was placed in the McKean County Jail following his arraignment Friday on charges linked with a May 29 neighborhood knife-wielding incident with a Kane police officer.
Larry P. Walker II, 42, of 231 Janeway St., Kane, is charged with felony aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person, according to documents filed with Kane District Court.
In an effort to balance the next budget, the Kane School Board is offering a retirement incentive plan to eligible teachers.
The board voted 7-1 Thursday to adopt a supplemental agreement with the Kane Area Education Association (KAEA) to put forth the retirement incentive.
Thomas C. Kerek, a retired major in the U.S. Army, has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the nine-member Kane School Board.
The board voted 6-2 Thursday to name Kerek to the post vacated last month by Harry Steele.
Board members Ken Kane, John Ball, Claire Ann Depto, Susan Grolemund, Gary Ziegler and Linda A. Anderson voted in favor of Kerek.
The Kane High School auditorium will be filled tonight for the annual commencement ceremony.
A total of 90 seniors will be receiving their high school diplomas tonight at the 7 p.m. event. Two foreign exchange students will receive certificates.
