Hamlin Twp. secretary vote is disputed

HAZEL HURST – A dispute has developed over the selection of a new secretary-treasurer for Hamlin Township.
The township Board of Supervisors acted at a special meeting Monday to hire Nicole L. "Nickie" Wheatley Causer of Hazel Hurst for the position.

SMETHPORT – McKean County is facing several lawsuits for taking alleged illegal action to increase assessments on properties with forest lands.
The Collins Pine Company (Kane Hardwood), perhaps the largest owner of forest lands in the county, is one of the appellants.

Acting at a special meeting Monday, the township Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 to hire Nicole L. "Nickie" Wheatley Causer of Hazel Hurst for the position.

Rep. Martin Causer presents a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to retiring Lewis Run Borough Mayor Abbie Montecalvo. Montecalvo is stepping down after 60 years of public service to the borough of Lewis Run, first as a borough council member for four years and then as mayor for 56 years.

Driver in Ludlow accident could be fined $594

LUDLOW –- The driver of a car that flipped on its roof along Route 6 near Ludlow on Christmas Eve faces fines of $594. An 18-year-old St. Marys residence was not injured in the accident about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Route 6 and Wildcat Road near Ludlow.

Plaque honors rescuers at 1968 plane crash

It's been 45 years since a twin-engine Allegheny Airlines plane crashed while coming in for a landing at the Bradford Regional Airport in Lafayette Township.
The Christmas Eve crash in 1968 killed 20 passengers.
Miraculously, 27 survived.

Geise publishes photography book featuring Pennsylvania elk

Pennsylvania's elk herd draws thousands of visitors to the area each year, many of whom come bearing their cameras in hopes of leaving with photographs of the creatures to document their time in Elk Country.
