St. Marys man dies in fire

ST. MARYS – A 77-year-old St. Marys man died early Saturday morning in a fire at 523 Brusselles St., St. Marys.
A report filed by Trooper Robert J. Southern of the Ridgway-based state police confirmed the death of James L. Robbins in the blaze which reportedly broke out shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.
His wife, Joan M. Robbins, 69, escaped the blaze and was reportedly transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital. Sources familiar with the situation confirmed Saturday night that she was being treated for second degree burns but had also suffered from severe smoke inhalation.

SMETHPORT – A preliminary hearing for the alleged drug-influenced driver in a six-fatality traffic accident is tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 before Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman.

Kane police chief case still pending

SMETHPORT – Suspended Kane Police Chief Brian Hillard will have another chance to enter a plea to charges of falsifying firearms training records for three Kane police officers.
Hillard was scheduled to enter a plea Thursday in McKean County Court. The court appearance has been continued to a later date not yet specified.
