In a pro-business move, the Kane Planning Board voted 2-0 Monday to endorse a plan for a small engine repair shop in a residential zone.

A large crowd jammed the 650-seat high school auditorium Thursday night for the first of four performances. There are shows tonight and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Snow may still be on the ground, but plans already are being made for Summer School classes in Kane.
The elementary school Summer School will run in two sessions from June 23 to Aug. 1. The first session is from June 23 to July 3. The second session is from July 14 to Aug. 1.
It isn't often that tears flow and voices crack with emotion at meetings of the Kane School Board.
The Kane Area School District has policies in place to deal with bullies and students who engage in harassment and hazing.
Dr. Maryann Anderson, superintendent of the school district, said the policies are part of the school code found on the district's website on the internet.Â
RIDGWAY TWP. â€“ A multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning shut down state Route 219 for over two and a half hours after a head-on collision with a loaded coal truck spilled debris over the two-lane roadway near 15926 Boot Jack Road (SR 219) in Ridgway Township.
RIDGWAY â€“ Murder suspect Nicholas Martin, 23, will be tried by prosecutors with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
The committee planning the Kane Sesquicentennial celebration this summer is seeking more help.
Sue Holt, chairman of the committee, said additional volunteers are needed to supervise events planned during the week-long celebration.
