Kane hospital upgrades cardiopulmonary unit

Kane Community Hospital now offers a higher level of diagnostic care within its cardiopulmonary department following the recent installation of four new pieces of equipment.     
The new equipment will fortify the hospital's commitment to offering advanced technology and delivering high levels of care to its patients.

An outpouring of love, gratitude and respect for the Benedictine Sisters of Elk County was evident on Sunday during a special community celebration honoring those who have served at St. Joseph Monastery in St. Marys, the oldest Benedictine monastery in the U.S. which is slated to close after 162 years of service.

Loose bricks fall from Fraley St. building

No one was injured Thursday when loose bricks fell from a building wall on Fraley Street in Uptown Kane.
The bricks crashed down and scattered in a parking area at Northwest Savings Bank at 56 Fraley St., Kane. No one was injured.

The Kane Chamber Commerce honored citizens and firefighters Thursday at its annual banquet at the Kane Fire Hall on Poplar Street.
John "Orson" Carlson, who has directed Saturday morning youth bowling at the Kane Elks Lodge for over 30 years, is the 2014 "Citizen-of-the-Year."

Cleland to address UPB graduates at commencement

BRADFORD – Senior Judge John M. Cleland, who has earned a reputation in the region and throughout Pennsylvania for his unwavering fairness and strong commitment to juvenile justice during his 30 years on bench, will address the graduating class at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in April.
Cleland, who is also a member and past chairman of the university’s Advisory Board and a Kane native, will deliver the keynote address during commencement exercises Sunday, April 27, in the KOA Arena in the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center.
