Melvin E. "Moe" Caldwell, 81, of Irwin, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1933 in Strawpump, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Boice Caldwell.
Prior to his retirement, Melvin was a self-employed plastering contractor who worked with many of the Irwin contractors. He was a BMW Motorcycle enthusiast and rode for many years with his wife across the United States and Canada. Moe and his family visited Ireland several times and he was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp in Kane.
Peggy L. Davidson, 81, of Burning Well Road, Kane, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 in her home.
Born Jan. 14, 1934 in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Jessie Fern Ewing Bradybaugh.
On Aug. 30, 1953 in Kane, she married Howard L. Davidson who died July 1, 2014.
A lifetime resident of Kane, Mrs. Davidson attended Kane schools and had worked at Houston Electronics, Olympic Luggage, Shirt Factory and as a nurses aide at the Lutheran Home
Howard "Bud" Ross, 84, formerly of 289 Burning Well Rd., near Kane, died Tuesday morning at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born April 18, 1930 in Kane, he was the son of Howard and May Ward Ross.
A 1953 graduate of Penn State University, he served in the U.S. Army Quartermasters.Â
Mr. Ross was a customer service salesman for the Norton Company in Akron, Ohio.
Surviving are his half-brother, Thomas C. Ross of Kane and several nieces and nephews.
, 71, of 296 South Settlement Rd., Kane, died unexpectedlyÂ early Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2015 in the emergency room of the Kane Community Hospital.
Born June 17, 1943 in Kane, he was the son of John W. and Lillian S. Larson Deane. On Feb. 23, 1985 in Maryland, he married the former Sandra L. Kapen, who survives.
Mr. Deane served in Cuba in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Later, he was a welder and crane operator for National Forge for 33 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ridgway.
James J. Morgan, 79, of 9152 Route 6, Lantz Corners, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at UPMC-Hamot in Erie.
He was born Aug. 16, 1935 in Halsey, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Rendosh) Morgan. On July 22, 1961 in Mt. Jewett, he married June (Wallin) Morgan who survives.
He was a graduate of Kane Area High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett, the Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club and the Mt. Jewett Veteran's Memorial Club.
Jay A. Depto, 52, of 148 Bliss Hill Rd., Ludlow, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 19, 1963 in Kane, son of the late Edward and Dona (Martin) Depto. On Oct. 12, 1985 in Kane, he married Sabrina Vanerstrom, who survives.
Thomas L. Deane, 71, of 296 South Settlement Rd., Kane, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 in the emergency room at the Kane Community Hospital. Arrangements, in the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., are incomplete and will be announced.
Donald L. Bedford, 74, of 1125 Jo Jo Rd., Kane, died Saturday evening, Feb. 21, 2015 at the Kane Community Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1940 in Kane the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Brechtel) Bedford. On May 13, 1989 in Kane he married Christine Engman, who survives.
Mr. Bedford had worked for Keystone Carbon and also as a logger and most recently for Domtar from which he retired. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kane and also the BPOE # 329 in Kane.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, John Bedford of Kane, and one daughter, Jacqueline Bedford of Kane.
