June 28th
Mary Jane (Bridge) Hanson, 90, died peacefully at Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio, on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
She had moved to the Toledo, Ohio area several years ago to be closer to her son, Richard L. Hanson, and his wife, Gail.
Born Dec. 7, 1921 in Kane, Mary Jane was the daughter of Lester and Ellen (McMahon) Bridge. The family lived in Clermont. On Sept. 7, 1940, in Smethport, she married Laverne E. Hanson. They lived together in Ormsby for over 65 years.

Ted Frase Corbett, 63, of Timmonsville, S.C., formerly of Kane and Warren, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, S.C.
Born March 26, 1949 in Kane, he was the son of James and Miriam Frase Corbett.Â
Methodist by faith, Mr. Corbett grew up in Kane, then moved to Warren where he worked for Penelec until the 1990s, when he moved to South Carolina.
He was a self-employed mechanic and carpenter; and bought and sold cars, and enjoyed restoring cars.

Kathryn E. Martin, age 75, of 22 East Main St. Mt. Jewett, died Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a short illness.
June 18th
Pamela Marie Sherwood, 50, of 405 Haines St., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her residence.
Born March 8, 1962, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Robert and Joan Boore Robinson. On Oct. 18, 1985, in Bradford, she married David Sherwood who survives.
Mrs. Sherwood, a wife, mother and homemaker was a member of the Eagles Club in Kane.
June 13th
Bonnie M. Harris, 89, formerly of 711 Smithfield Ave. in Kane, died Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where she resided.
Born Aug. 11, 1922 in Duhring, she was the daughter of William D. and Myrtle K. Krise Herron.Â
Mrs. Harris was an assembler for Stackpole Corp. in Kane for 25 years, then was a nurse's aide at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport for five years.
She was a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star in Kane.
June 11th
Jeffrey A. Baker, 55 of Bradford, formerly of Kane, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
 He was born on Nov. 21, 1956 in Port Allegany, the son of the late Robert and Delores “Honey” Townsend Baker.
He attended Kane area schools.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who just loved to be outdoors whether it was throwing horseshoes, playing softball or sitting around a campfire. In his spare time he enjoyed playing Yahtzee. He loved all of his faithful dogs that he had throughout his life.
Jack M. Archer, 82, of 6 West End Dr., Bradford, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born on March 20, 1930, in Butler, he was a son of the late Morris and Wilma (Prigg) Archer.
On Sept. 1, 1957 in Kane by the Rev. Clark Cochrane, at the First Congregation Church he married Margaret "Peggy" (MacEwen) Archer who survives him.
June 10th
Raymond "Ray" Hillard, formerly of Kane, passed away early Thursday morning, June 7, 2012 in Palm Coast, Fla.Â
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois and their son Darrel. He proudly served his country as a second lieuetant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Hillard retired from the timber management division of the U.S. Forest Service before moving to Florida to spend time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and bird watching during his free time.Â
Donald Chittester, 84, of 43 Brickyard Rd., passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Heinz V.A. Hospital in Aspinwall.
Born April 12, 1928, in Brandy Camp, he was a son of Oran and Nellie Daugherty Chittester.
Mr. Chittester had been employed as a truck driver for Kane Manufacturing and also had been previously employed as a driver for JB Hunt. In addition,he had taught truck driving at Dublin Tech College in Georgia and had worked for the California Forestry Service.
Don was the present Commander of King David VFW Post 1132 in Kane and had served in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Seabee.
June 8th
LaVerta M."Bootsie" Rose, 85, formerly of 3 Southgate Rd., passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Bradford Manor.
Born in Russell City on Aug. 23, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Emanuel and Reba (Clawges) Cunningham.
On Feb. 24, 1949 in Kane, she married Francis G. Rose, who died on February 23, 2010.
Mrs. Rose attended Bradford schools. She had worked for many years as a waitress at the Emery Hotel and DeSoto Holiday House. She later worked at AirCo. Speers and and prior to her retirement at Top's Market's in the deli department.
