Patricia A. Harp, 71, of 15 Kushequa Ave. in Mt. Jewett, formerly of Marienville, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, 2012 at the Kane Community Hospital after a recent illness.
Born March 17, 1941 in Allison Park, she was the daughter of George L. and Anna L. Lane Schreiber.Â On Feb. 13, 1960 in Lucinda, she married Forest W. Harp, who died in 2007.
Catholic by faith, she served in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii, then had worked as a packer for Owens Illinois in Brockport.
Lucille M. Swanson, 91, of Mt. Jewett, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Oct. 2, 1920, in Mt. Jewett, she was a daughter of Oscar F. and Ellen M. Anderson. On March 25, 1946, at Nebo Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett, she married Ray D. Swanson who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2007.
Linda M. Silvis, 79, of 966 JoJo Road, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born April 14, 1933, she was a daughter of Norbert and Eva Brinkley Aaron.Â On Aug. 7, 1954, at St. Dominicâs Catholic Church in Sigel, she married Charles Silvis who preceded her in death on July 7, 2012.
Mrs. Silvis was a member of St. Callistus Church and belonged to the C.D. of A. Court Callistus #66.Â She also had been active in the Boy Scouts and the 4 H Club.Â
Elsie S. Yaegle, 97, formerly of 110 Elm St., Warren, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Warren General Hospital after a short illness.Â
She had been a resident at the Watson Home since 2005, where she made many wonderful friends.
Nancy E. Hipchen, 81, of 1200 Conewango Ave., Warren, and formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Warren General Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1931, in Butler, she was a daughter of Mont and Beatrice Daugherty.Â On Nov. 17, 1948, in Port Allegany,Â she married C. Duane Hipchen who preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Hipchen had been employed for many years by Corning.Â Her greatest joy was cooking and she loved preparing dishes for others who appreciated her help in times of need. She also enjoyed passing on her cooking skills to her family and friends.
James "Bill" William Vasbinder, 87, of 1650 Philips Rd., Tallahassee, Fla., passed away Aug. 21, 2012 at Consulate Health Care.
Born Oct. 18, 1924, in Brookville, he was a son of Clarence and Dessie Belle Hottel Vasbinder. He was married to Daisy M. Simon Vasbinder who preceded him in death.
Bill was a veteran of WWII and had worked for the American Automobile Association (AAA) for 31 years.Â His favorite pastimes were golf, bowling, fishing and reading.
Phyllis E. Nelson, 91, formerly of 110 Wetmore Ave., Kane, joined her Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2012 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born July 10, 1921 in Kane, she was the daughter of Edward R. and Rose M. Grinnell Eckborg.Â She married Stanley Sowa on Nov. 20, 1954, who died in 1978; then married the rev. Richard Nelson on Sept. 20, 1980, who died in 2010.
Mrs. Nelson was a sewing machine operator at Olympic Luggage in Kane for many years.Â She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, sewing and crocheting, watching her hummingbirds and studying the word of God.
Sherry Myers, 43, of 89 Old Bradford Rd., Mt. Jewett, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at her residence.
Born June 22, 1969, in Kane, she was a daughter of Edward and Mary Cesario McClelland.Â On April 22, 1989, in Mt. Jewett, she married Russ Myers who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband,Â are two brothers, Joe McClelland of Mt. Jewett and Ed (Melissa) McClelland of Johnsonburg; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael McClelland.
Robert L. Mix, 68, of 9 Keesler Ave., Mt. Jewett, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion.
Born July 1, 1944, in Bradford, he was a son of Pete Mix and Elaine Balon Greenawalt.Â On Oct. 5, 1963, at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane,Â he married Carole Boedecker who survives.
Mr. Mix worked in construction and also owned the former Mt. Jewett Feed Store for several years.Â
He loved spending time with his family and having picnics and heÂ also enjoyed being at his camp at Duke Center. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and camping.
James B. Ewing, 76, of 118 Chestnut St., passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1935, in Sheffield, he was a son of Frank and Avanelle Lawhead Ewing.Â On March 13, 1957, in Smethport, he married Shirley Fitzgerald who survives.
Before retirement, Jim was a press operator at Dresser's.Â He served with the National Guard and was a member of the Kar Krazees.Â He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.Â His passion was his 1972 Vega.
