Carl W. Cook, 80, of 1102 Horner Rd., Wilcox, died Friday morning, Aug. 9, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born July 7, 1933 in Hazel Hurst, son of the late Carl R. and Lillian Dippo Cook.
He married Beverly Marlene Johnson on Nov. 20, 1954 in the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, and she survives.
Formerly of James City, he resided in Wilcox since 1958. He graduated from Kane High School and was a member of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church and Wilcox Sportsmen's Club.
Nancy Sue Goodwin, formerly of Kane, died of cancer on Aug. 8, 2013.
She was born Oct. 25, 1938 in Kane, in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains. Her father was Berrier Peterson, a logger and a carpenter. She worked at the soda fountain at Bush's Pharmacy, had a dog named Leach and was the Queen of the Hunt one year in high school.
Michael J. Kennedy, 19, of 641 East Center St., Johnsonburg, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 11, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Kane.
Born Aug. 21, 1993 in Kronach, Germany, he was the son of Joseph C. and Tanja L. Kirch Kennedy.
A 2012 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, he was employed by Kane Manufacturing.Â Michael belonged to Tabor Lutheran Church in Kane, the Grey Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in Johnsonburg, and had been a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society.
Michael J. Kennedy, 19, of 641 East Center St., Johnsonburg, died early Sunday morning as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Kane.Â Arrangements, under the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, are incomplete and will be announced in tomorrow's edition.

Gertrude F. Anderson, age 93, formerly of Harrison Township, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at 8:05 p.m. at The Lutheran Home in Kane.
She was born on her mother's birthday on Maple Street in Natrona Heights on July 14, 1920, daughter of Henry and Pearl Buzzard Sherrieb. She resided in the Harrison Township area for 90 years and had lived at The Lutheran Home of Kane since 2011.
She was a graduate of Har-Brack High School in 1939 and worked as an operator for Bell Telephone, and as a homemaker.
Katherine Wenk â€śKayâ€ť Christoffers, 91, of State College and Atlantis, Fla., died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County, Atlantis, Fla.
Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Philadelphia, Kay was the only child of Lora Ethel Heim Wenk and Karl Edward Wenk of Kane.
She attended Kane High School and Arlington Hall Junior College, and graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1945 with a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Economics.
Janet Rose Shelander, age 74, of Duffy Apartments, Johnsonburg, died at home Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1939 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Kinny) Shelander.
She attended Johnsonburg schools and worked at Stackpole Carbon of Johnsonburg and St. Marys, Elcam, and the Deli of Johnsonburg Market Basket/Jubilee.
Marlys Perry, 68, of Kane, passed away on June 28, 2013, of cancer.Â
She was born Jan. 14, 1945, and grew up in California, where she graduated from La Sierra Acadamy in 1963.Â
Her greatest joy in life was raising her children. She also enjoyed her career as a traveling nurse. Marlys loved Jesus Christ, was eager to be the person she felt Jesus wanted her to be, and enjoyed sharing her Seventh Day Adventist beliefs with others. She loved travel, the beach, fishing trips, friends, family, and watching her grandchildren participate in sports.Â
Gary L. Dean, 61, of Virginia Avenue, James City, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
Born March 13, 1952, in Kane, he was a son of John and Margaret Oyler Dean.
Mr. Dean had previously worked for Bethlehem Steel, JH Williams Tool Company and various lumber mills.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of James City, are a son Timothy Dean of Smethport; three brothers, John (Mary) Dean of James City, Mike (Celeste) Dean of Buffalo, N.Y., and Bruce (Linda) Dean of Kane.Â Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Connie J. Walker, 74, of 13 Merrick St., Hazel Hurst, went home to meet the Lord she loved while surrounded by her loving family at UPMC Hamot on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
Born Aug. 4, 1938, in Kane,Â she was a daughter ofÂ the late John and Avis Nogar Keesler.
ConnieÂ was employed by the Smethport School DistrictÂ for 30 years as a custodian.Â She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett and was an avid bingo player and loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are two sons, James Walker, "her loving caretaker"Â and John (Deb) Walker, both of Hazel Hurst.
