June 13th
Edward D. "Eddie Pete" Peterson, 77, of 908 Welsh St., Kane, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2013 in the E.R. of the Kane Community Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born Feb. 3, 1936 in Kane, he was the son of Edward S. and Cora P. Detwiler Peterson. On April 25, 1969 in Johnsonburg, he married Ann J. Mays, who survives.
Mr. Peterson was an operator for Pennsylvania American Water Co. for over 25 years, and was a union steward for the company.
June 12th
Carmela Ann "Melly"Â Napolitan, 83, of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the BRMC Pavilion in Bradford.
Born May 25, 1930, in Hazel Hurst, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Antoinette Santaniello Napolitan.
Ms. Napolitan was a graduate of Mansfield University and began her teaching career in Savona, N.Y., in 1952. Later she served as an elementary teacher for 42 years in the Bradford Area School District, retiring in 1995.
Carmela was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and the St. Joseph's Rosary Society.

Carmela A. Napolitan, 83, of 1154 East Main St., Bradford, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Pavilion in Bradford.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett.
June 10th
John Leo Colle, 73, of Lee, Maine, passed away on May 9, 2013, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, after a brief bout with cancer.
Born Nov. 9, 1939, in Kane, he was a son of Felix and Elizabeth Colle.
June 4th
Florence V. Forquer, 88, a resident of Sena-Kean Manor, and formerly of Kushequa, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born June 15, 1924, in Kushequa, she was a daughter of William and Anna James Transue. On June 20, 1941, at Kushequa Union Church, she married Lester Forquer who preceded her in death.
June 3rd
Frehiwot "Marra" Olsson, 2, died Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was the daughter of Sten and Amy Olsson of Frederick.
She was born Nov. 22, 2010 in Assela, Ethiopia.
Frehiwot joined her family in January 2012 when they adopted her from Ethiopia. The story of her journey to the Olsson family has touched the lives of countless people. She was a light to all who knew her. Marra Freh loved her brothers and sisters and enjoyed playing, singing, laughing and being silly. Dora was her favorite character.
Greta A. Jacobus, 83, of 115 Biddle St., passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at theYork Hospital.
Born May 6, 1930, in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Hilary and Margaret Collins Weaver. On Aug. 13, 1955, in Lock Haven, she married Paul Jacobus who preceded her in death in 2000.
Mrs. Jacobus taught in the Kane Area School District for many years, retiring in 1985. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and a graduate of Penn State University in 1952.
She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church where she had previously been an organist.
John Victor Compton, 73, of 194 Dewey Ave., Hazel Hurst, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at his residence.
Born Jan. 6, 1940, in Kane, he was a son of the late Victor and Viola Porter Compton. On May 1, 1960, in Eldred, he married Carol L. Slaugenhaupt who survives.
Mr. Compton had worked at various positions including the charcoal factory in Marvindale, working in the woods, in the oil fields, as a construction worker where he helped build the Kinzua Dam, and finally at Kane Hardwood from which he retired in 2006.
May 29th
Lewis I. Stidd, 86, of 13 Phillips St., Mt. Jewett, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Dec. 10, 1926, in Guffy, he was a son of the late Irvin and Mildred Pair Stidd. On June 24, 1989, in Mt. Jewett, he married Mary Lou Swanson who survives.
While still in school, Lewis and several friends worked the ore boats on the lakes. After graduation, he joined the Army, spending one year in Italy. After the war, he worked in several of the area oil fields. He and his best friend, John Anderson, later owned the Skyline at Lantz Corners for almost 30 years.
Wayne A. McClelland, 89, formerly of JoJo Road, Kane, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1923, in Kane, he was a son of the late Wayne and Esther Silvis McClelland.
Mr. McClelland was employed by National Fuel Gas Co. from which he retired after many years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Lodge #1132 and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge # 566 and had recently received his 50-year pin.
Wayne served his country during World War II.
