James M. Milliron, 86, of Stonehedge Circle, Brookville, formerly of Marienville, died Monday, May 20, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Lake Forest Village, Denton, Texas.
He was born April 2, 1928, in Hazelhurst, the son of Harry Vern Milliron and Ruby Nogar. On Jan. 21, 1949, in Kane, he married the former Valjean Maze, who preceded him in death on June 20, 2010.
Mr. Milliron was a veteran having served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Joyce Marie Simpson, 56, West Stubs Road, Corsica, died Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Born Oct. 11, 1957, in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late James Wolfgang and of Vivian Silvis Wolfgang, who survives and lives in Kane.
She was married to Marlyn C. â€śStubâ€ť Simpson in Corsica March 26, 1983. He survives.
She worked as a hairdresser for 38 years and was owner/operator of Simpsonâ€™s Beauty Shop in Corsica.
She was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica and also of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends.
Marjorie B. Newton, 92, formerly of Mt. Jewett, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Bradford Manor.
Born June 19, 1921, in Summerville, she was a daughter ofÂ the late Edward and Olive White Sherman.
On May 17, 1941, in Knapp Creek, N.Y., she marriedÂ Henry Newton who preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Newton had been employed as a seamstress.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mt. Jewett, the Oilers P39 Camping Club and the Seneca Highlands Trailer Club.
Bette â€śJeannineâ€ť Hefright, 81, of Water Street, Johnsonburg, died following a series of illnesses on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 while at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she had resided for the past five months.
Born Oct. 12, 1932 in Johnsonburg, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Gertrude (Blumquist) Speaker. Jeannine was the oldest of the three children.Â
Judith "Judy" A. Barner, 69, of Van Ettan Avenue, Sheffield, died peacefully while surrounded by her children and following a brief illness on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Warren General Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Kane, she was a daughter of William E. and Dorothy A. Anderson Sleeman. On Oct. 9, 1965, in Sheffield, she married Jack V. Barner, her husband and best friend, whom she had greatly missed since his death in 2009.
Joseph Clark Adams, 71, of 209 Market St., Warren, formerly of Kane, died Saturday evening, May 10, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Sept. 16, 1942 in Randleman, N.C., he was the son of Joseph C. and Anna T. Threadgill Adams.Â On March 19, 1972 in Chesterfield, S.C., he married the former Beverly Irwin, who survives.
Joe hadÂ been a mechanic at Stackpole Corp. in Kane for 32 years.Â He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Warren and a lifetime member of the F.O. Eagles in Kane. He was an avid pool player who participated in many tournaments.
Raymond K. Phillips, 55, of 125 Walnut St., died Friday, May 9, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.
Born Aug. 20, 1958, in Pasadena, Texas, he was a son of Wayne and Jan McMinn Phillips. On March 30, 1984, in McArthur, Ohio, he married Diane Smathers who survives.
Mr. Phillips was a head sawyer for over 30 years, most recently working for Zuzek's Lumber Mill. Currently he had been employed by Kane Lawn and Garden.
Joseph C. Adams, 71, 209 Market St., Warren, formerly of Kane, died Saturday evening, May 10, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie. Arrangements, in care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home in Kane, are incomplete and will be announced.
Virgil C. Nelson, 81, of 15 Church St. in Ludlow, died Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1932 in Kane, he was the son of Frank E. and Hannah C. Freeburg Nelson. On June 25, 1955 in Kane, he married Carol â€śJeanâ€ť Scott, who survives.
Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, discharged as corporal.
He was a banker for 38 years for the former Warren National Bank in Sheffield, then Kane, and finally Warren, retiring as comptroller.
