Daniel Eugene Work

Daniel Eugene Work, 55, of 1175 East Main St., Bradford, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at his residence.
Born May 29, 1959, in Bradford he was the son of the late Joseph R. Lamberson Sr. and Donna (Uhl) Lamberson, who survives.
Mr. Work was a 1978 graduate of Limestone High School. He served in the United States Air Force. He had been employed at W. R. Case Cutlery & Son's, Bush Industries in Falconer, Custer City Oil and Graham Packaging.

Caroline "Keck" M. Swedenhjelm

Caroline "Keck" M. Swedenhjelm, 84, formerly of West Wind Road, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born March 13, 1930, in Wilcox, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Bedner Parana. On Oct. 29, 1949, in Rasselas, she married Paul "Skip" Swedenhjelm who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swedenhjelm, a graduate of Wilcox High School, was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and polka dancing. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and had served as a Brownie Scout assistant leader.

Frank M. Novosel

Frank M. Novosel, 96, of 102 Laurel Ave., Kane, died Friday morning, Dec. 5, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1918 in Kane, he was the son of Nickolas and Barbara Balaban Novosel. On Feb. 22, 1949 in Kane, he married Katherine E. Lunger, who died in 2006.
Frank served as a Chief Master Machinist in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Active in the lumber, oil and gas industry in the area, he was a partner of the Novosel Lumber Company, manufactured charcoal and distillation products, and was president of Sergeant Gas Company.

Wayne D. Rapp

Wayne D. Rapp, 78, of 269 Highland Rd., Kane, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2014 following an extended illness.
Born May 26, 1936 in Sackett, he was the son of Lawrence W. and Lillian F. Whipple Rapp. On Nov. 10, 1956 in Kane, he married Patricia J. Neely, who died in 1993.
Wayne worked for National Fuel Gas in various positions, retiring as an electrician in 1996 after 33 years of service. During that time he also owned and operated Wayne's Sales & Service, performing small engine repair from his home.

Wayne D. Rapp, 78, of 269 Highland Rd., Kane, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Arrangements, in the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., are incomplete and will be announced.

William Carl Smith

William Carl Smith of Plano, Texas, died peacefully at his home Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 surrounded by his children, some grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.
Born Oct. 20, 1930, in Rixford, he was a son of Lloyd Dowler and Agnes Marie Kruise Smith. He grew up on a farm and during his childhood, he took up other pastimes such as playing the drums, bugle and football. He spoke often to his grandchildren about a raft that he built and loved to take out on the creek but which was lost during the great Smethport rainstorm of 1942 when 30.8 inches of rain fell in 4.5 hours.

Mabel Louise Rumbaugh

Mrs. Mabel Louise Rumbaugh, 89, of Parker, S.D., formerly of Burrows Road, Pleasantville, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014.
Mabel was born Dec. 21, 1924 in Kushequa to the late Thomas and Mary Downing Keeley. She married the late Harry Rumbaugh on May 31, 1945 in Titusville. He preceded her in death July 31, 2007.
Mabel graduated from Mt. Jewett High School in 1943 and then from the Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1951.
She was a nurse at the Titusville Area Hospital for 45 years until her retirement in 1990.

James W. Asp

James W. Asp, 45, of 130 Greeves St., Kane, died late Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2014 at the home of his parents at 15 Asp Ln. following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1969 in Kane, he was the son of Alan and Deborah Asp Asp. 
He had been a cook at The Waffle Shop in State College as well as at a country club, also in State College.
Jim was a member of Emmanuel Mission Church in Kane and of the Lamont Community Association.

Marilyn Louise Durnell

Marilyn Louise Durnell, 76, of Warren, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born Aug. 23, 1938, in Warren. She is the daughter of the late Merle and Genevieve Marlett Eames.
Marilyn was a 1956 graduate of Warren High School. She had worked at various locations in the Warren area and was previously the president of the Warren and Forest ARC. Marilyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother--she was truly committed to her family and faith in God.
