Nancy L. Brown, 69, of New Jersey Avenue in James City, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 19, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born April 22, 1945 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Richard M. and Frances J. Udovich Chittester.Â On Nov. 9, 1964 in Kane, she married James R. Brown, who diedÂ in 1994.
Nancy had worked at the Rite Aid store in Kane, then later became manager of the Rite Aid in Ridgway for several years.
Thomas W. Mehalko, 67, of 514 Horner Rd., Wilcox, died early Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys.
Born Feb. 1, 1947, in Wilcox, he was a son of George and Nellie Turzanski Mehalko. On July 27, 1968, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wilcox, he married Anita Johnson who survives.
Mr. Mehalko had worked for Penn Tech and, more recently, was employed by Alpha Sintered Metals in Ridgway.
Forrest F. Hayes, 78, a native of Wilcox, died Friday evening, Oct. 10, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he was a resident.
Born April 22, 1936 in Ridgway, he was the son of Cecil E. and Evelyn F. Hollobaugh Hayes.
A peacetime veteran of the U.S. Navy, Forrest was a security guard for Wells Fargo in Los Angeles, and belonged to the VFW Post #1132 in Kane.
Edward James Parana, 76, of North Cornwall Township, died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014.
He was born in Wilcox to the late John and Anna (Bedner) Parana. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gayle A. (Koza) Parana.
He retired in 1997 as an equipment operator for National Fuel Gas Company following 35 years of faithful service. He was a member of St. Callistus Church, Kane Elks Club and Kane Country Club. His ever-present smile reflected his kind nature and zest for life. He loved his family beyond measure and will be missed dearly.
Keith W. Swanson, 72, of Smethport, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 in the Bradford Manor, Bradford.
He was born Sept. 11, 1942 in Kane, a son of Roy and Alfretta McMichael Swanson.Â On June 7, 1969, in the United Methodist Church of Smethport, he married Maryon Painter, who survives.
Mr. Swanson was a 1960 graduate of Kane High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a Lab Technician at the former Quaker State Refinery, now International Waxes, of Farmers Valley, PA, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Gifford.
George M. "Bud" Swanson, 82, of 5 Oberg Ave., Mt. Jewett, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born May 25, 1932, in Mt. Jewett, he was a son of George and Iona Murray Swanson. On April 2, 1966, in Mt. Jewett, he married Bernadine Lantz who survives.
John "Tyke" Hulings, 77, of 126 West Virginia Ave, James City,Â died Friday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2014 in James CityÂ at the home of his daughter.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1936 inÂ James City, the son of the late George and Evelyn Confer Hulings.Â On April 14, 1956 he married Donna Edinger, who preceded him in death.
Mr.Â Hulings was aÂ member of the Kane Senior Center and also the Northwestern Pennsylvania Polka Boosters.Â He attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the National Guards.
John "Tyke" Hulings, 77, of West Virginia Ave. James City, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2014. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home.
Mark A. Lamper, 60, of Erie, died Sunday, Sept. 21 at his residence.
Born Nov. 17, 1953 in Warren, he was the son of the late Glenn and Violet (McCarthy) Lamper.
Mark worked as a machine operator at Owens Brockway for over 20 years. He loved his bird, was a member of the Moose Club, and an avid lottery ticket player. He also loved spending time with his family and camping at Fox Dam in Kane.
Dad you were the best then, youâ€™re the best now, and your always gonna be the best there ever was. We will love you forever.
Darlene Royer Zietz, 68, of Odessa, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014.
She was born in Kane and moved to Florida in 1978.
She is preceded in death by her late, husband Harry Zietz; her parents, Homer Wayne and Jerry Royer; grandparents Harry and Hazel Bouch; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
