Angeline Gabriel

Angeline Gabriel, 90, of 158 Old Smethport Road, died Sunday (Aug. 24, 2014) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 11, 1923, in Kane, she was a daughter of  the late Anthony and Mary Gerarge Migliazzo. On May 13, 1944, in Kane, she married Edward Gabriel who preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1997.

John E. Zook

John E. Zook, 77, of 307  W. Hemlock Ave., Kane, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Sept. 11, 1936, in Kane, he was a son of the late John E. and Ruth Gilbert Zook. On Dec. 26, 1959 in Kane, he married Sandra Orcutt who survives.
John, a well-known Kane businessman, was the owner of Zook Motors which is one of Kane's oldest businesses. He was very active and  community-minded and was always there to help or give to the community in so many different ways. Zook Motors could always be counted on when a cause was at hand and money had to be raised. 

Mary “Shirley” O’Neil Lathrop

Mary “Shirley” O’Neil Lathrop, 65, of Bradford, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at UPMC Hamot, Erie.
She was born Dec. 7, 1948 in Kane, the daughter of the late Charles and Shirley Carlson O’Neil.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Lathrop, three sons, Larry, Ben and John; one daughter, Susan, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Scott.
At her request private services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

Ernest L. Mason

Ernest L. Mason, 62, of 200 Pleasant St., formerly of Lewis Run, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014 at The Pavilion at BRMC after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 22, 1951, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of the late Kenneth Mason and Reta (Hewitt) Mason, who survives of Bradford.
On Dec. 31, 1982,  in Lewis Run, he married Cathy (Null) Mason, who died Nov. 30, 1996.

August 15th

Jared Robert Klinger

Jared Robert Klinger, 22, of 2 North Hillside Ave., Ludlow, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1992, at Ft. Polk, La. and was the beloved son of Robert "Joe" Klinger and Carla Fleming Klinger and beloved brother of Danika Klinger.
Jared was a 2010 graduate of Kane High School and excelled at soccer, a game that he loved his entire life. He also loved fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 2011 to 2014, where he attained the rank of Airman First Class.

Jared Klinger, 22, of 2 North Hillside Ave., Ludlow, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.

Richard P. "Rich" Bartels

August 12, 2014

Richard P. "Rich" Bartels, 76, of 614 North Fraley St., Kane, formerly of School Street in East Kane, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 10, 1937 in Dravosburg, he was the son of Paul A. and Bernice M. Forsythe Bartels. On March 18, 1960 in Fort Payne, Ala., he married Jean A. Lamb, who survives.
Rich was a road supervisor for Hamilton Township for several years, and later was, among other things, a mechanic for Wetmore Township for 14 years, both near Kane.

Alice K. Coleman

Alice K. Coleman, 92, formerly of 508 Hacker St., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 31, 1921, in Maple Heights, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Irvin A. and Flora Jeffords Keyser. On July 31, 1954, she married Martin R. Coleman who preceded her in death.
Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a lifelong member of both the Phoenix Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star in Smethport and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Richard P. Bartels

Richard P. Bartels, 76, formerly of 610 North Fraley St., Kane, and School Street in East Kane, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2014 in The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Arrangements, under the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., are incomplete and will be announced.

Mary Ann Bilicic

Mary Ann Bilicic, 80, of 413 Maple St., St. Marys, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born May 22, 1934 in Kane, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Hargart) Collin.
On Sept. 1, 1962, at Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys, she married George W. Bilicic Sr., who survives.
