Jay Depto, 52, of Bliss Hiss Road died Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.
Florence A. Gullifer, 89, formerly of 230 Birch St., Kane, died late Monday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2015 at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born May 31, 1925 in Instanter, she was the daughter of Igancs and Josephine Malok Bodistow.Â On July 5, 1947 in Kane, she married Wilbur D. Gullifer, who died in 2009.
Mrs. Gullifer worked at Stackpole Corp. in Kane for many years, and later was a cook at The Lutheran Home at Kane for eight years.
She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and enjoyed baking.
Theodore L. "Ted" Hutchins, 68, of 526 Janeway St., died suddenly Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2015 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born April 11, 1946, in Kane, he was a son of the late John and Mary Zaunick Hutchins. On Nov. 9, 1972, in Kane, he married Jennifer Wilson who survives.
Ted had been employed at SGL Carbon in St. Marys.
Larry A. â€śSpaceâ€ť Buzard, 57, of 130 Greeves St., Kane, died Friday morning, Feb. 13, 2015 at his residence.
Born Aug. 7, 1957 in Kane, he was the son of Royd L. and Norah M. Galera Buzard.
He was employed by Kane Hardwood for 36 years.
An active member of the B.P.O. Elks #329 in Kane, he was a Past Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy of the Pennsylvania Elks Northwest District. He enjoyed bowling there immensely.
Ruth C. Quist, 94, a longtime resident of Mt. Jewett, died Friday morning, Feb. 13, 2015 at St. Marthaâ€™s Manor in Downingtown, near her daughter and her family.
Born March 6, 1920 in Marvindale, she was the daughter of Elof and Eva Herron Carlson. On Feb. 16, 1942, she married Harold E. Quist, who died in 1985.
Mrs. Quist, along with her husband, owned and operated Quistyâ€™s in Mt. Jewett for 30 years, with her retirement in 2000. Both had many friends in the community.
Ruth was a member of the American Legion Womenâ€™s Auxiliary in Mt. Jewett.
Vera E. "Midge" Johnson, 81, of Worrall Street, Wilcox, formerly of Mt. Jewett, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident on Route 219 in Wilcox.
She was born Oct. 19, 1933 in Kane, daughter of the late George B. and Vera Patterson Laughlin.
On Oct. 19, 1974, she married Richard Johnson in St. Callistus Church, Kane. He died Jan. 24, 2012.
She resided in Wilcox and had lived in Mt. Jewett for 10 years and in Pittsburgh for 20 years.
She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1950.
Rose M. Swanson, 92, of 649 Marvin St., Wilcox, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident on Route 219 in Wilcox.
She was born May 21, 1922 in Wilcox, daughter of the late George B. and Vera Patterson Laughlin.
On June 24, 1947, she married Carl A. "Swen" Swanson in Rasselas. He died Oct. 29, 1998.
She resided in Wilcox all her life.
