Brenda L. Emer

Brenda L. Emer, 44, of 142 New Jersey Avenue in James City, died late Tuesday afternoon at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh after a series of courageous battles with cancer.  Arrangements are under the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane and will be announced.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.ronaldmcdonaldfuneralhome.com

Ronald J. Francis

Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, and also 985 Valencia Estates, Lakeland, Fla, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
He was born in Erie on Jan. 18, 1938, the son of the late Clarence and Ann (Zelinski) Francis. He graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1956 and was employed at Hammermill International Paper for 42 1/2 years. He also had owned and operated the Instant Heartburn Sausage Trailer for many years.

Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.

Robert L. Fiscus

September 28, 2013

Robert L. Fiscus, 68, of 415 Haines St., Kane, died Thursday evening, Sept. 26, 2013 in the Kane Community Hospital Emergency Room.
Born Oct. 25, 1944 in Kane, he was the son of Braden E. and Martha E. Marshall Fiscus Sr. On Nov. 9, 1974 in Kane, he married Donna L. Bizzak, who survives.
Mr. Fiscus worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Sheffield for many years, then for Kane Manufacturing for 27 years.
He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Henry P. Feikls, 89, of Kane, died Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Kane, Pa., after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 3, 1924, in Erie, Pa., a son of the late Rudolph and Mary Mraz Feikls.

William R. Bloss Jr.

William R. Bloss Jr. age 76, of Ashland, Ohio, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at his residence. 
He was born July 23, 1937 in Kane to the late William and Grace (Anderson) Bloss. He had worked and retired from the Warren County schools in Pennsylvania and had been the Emergency Management coordinator of Sheffield Township in Pennsylvania. Mr. Bloss served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was a member of the Perrysville Baptist Church, Kane Lodge F&AM #566 and the Coudersport Consistory.

James H. “Slip” Compton

James H. “Slip” Compton, 67, of 6753 Rte. 59, Lewis Run, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Jan. 17, 1946, in Kane, he was a son of the late Victor and Viola Porter Compton.
In 1962, he entered the U.S. Army Ranger Airborne and served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was wounded in 1971 and was honorably discharged.
Once home, he was employed by several different oil companies as a drill hand, retiring in 2003 due to illness. He also had been a member of the Lafayette Township V.F.D. where he served as a fire policeman.

Gary R. Bush

Gary R. Bush, 59, of Smethport, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.
He was born Nov. 5, 1953 in Kane, a son of Ralph and June Thayer Bush.
On Aug. 9, 1975, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Lewis Run, he married Marian M. Farrell, who survives.
Gary was a 1971 graduate of Kane High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He owned and operated Bush Trucking Co. in Smethport and was co-owner of the Smethport Drive-In with his wife, Marian.

Doris Lee Martin

Doris Lee Martin, 80, of 616 N. Fraley St., passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at her home.
Born Aug. 10, 1933, she was a daughter of Carl B. Hazzard and Goldie G. Strait. On Aug. 19, 1950, she married John C. Martin who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2007.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Martin worked at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Surviving are four children, Robert Martin of Waymart, Rebecca Ehrlinger of Greencastle, Randy Martin of Mt. Jewett and Roberta Fitch of Commerce City, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

LeRoy J. Neubert

LeRoy J. Neubert, 70, of 86 Worral St., Wilcox, died on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1942 in Benzinger, son of the late LeRoy E. and Anne Danko Neubert.
He married Doris Stewart on May 3, 1973 in St. Callistus Church in Kane, who survives.
Leroy resided in Wilcox all his life. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School in 1960.
