Clarence W. "Duke" Eckert, 89, of 104 Forest Avenue, died Monday (Sept. 1, 2014) at Sena Kean Manor.
Born Oct. 16, 1924, in Elk County, he was a son ofÂ the late Anthony and Julia Brendel Eckert.Â On May 26, 1950, in Kane, he married Rose Trumbull who survives.
"Duke" served with the U.S. Air Corps during World War II.
HeÂ was a Millwright and had worked at various times for HBSA Industries in Brooklyn, N.Y., the McKean County Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Affiliated Industries in Kane, J.R. Kilmer Wholesale Groceries and St. Marys Sewer Pipe Company in St. Marys.
Eric B. Horn, 51, of Highland died Sunday morning at UPMC Hamot.Â He was born on Feb. 24, 1963 in Smethport, PA, the son of Keith and Phyllis (Siegel) Horn.
Mr. Horn was an avid football player and fan. Â He succeeded in making Big 30 both his junior and senior year playing for Kane High School. Â Later, he became a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.
Wilda Genevieve Dixon, 93, of Kane, formerly of Smethport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday (Sept. 1, 2014). She was a resident of The Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born March 12, 1921 in Owls Nest, a daughter of Walter M. and Elma Rea Ishman.Â Wilda married Donald Leroy Dixon, who survives, in Kane on Aug. 23, 1947. They moved to Smethport in 1947 and began their ministry at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.Â
Joann Meckley, 87, formerly of 121 Oak Street, Kane, died Thursday morning, Aug. 28, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Aug. 31, 1926 in Wetmore, near Kane, she was the daughter of Stephen H. and Ruby F. Winkler Jerman.Â On Aug. 26, 1950 in Kane, she married D. Neal Meckley, who survives.
A homemaker and mother, Joann was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Lynn (Tony) Avenali of Kane and a son, Richard Meckley of Kane; a granddaughter, Jennifer Meckley and her beloved cat, Lady.
Robert A. Chapman, 47, of 120 Fraley Street, Kane, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 28, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born Sept. 13, 1966 in Kane, he was the son of Robert L. and Carol A. Transue Chapman.Â On July 9, 2005 in Kane, he married Traci L. Haight, who survives.
Bob was a self-employed electrician, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing.
Larry Keyser, 65. of 387 Division Street, Mt. Jewett, died Sunday (Aug. 24, 2014) at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1949, in Kane, he was a son ofÂ Clayton and Dolores Anderson Edinger.Â On February 12, 1971, in Mt. Jewett, he married Julie Swanson who survives.
Mr. Keyser had been employed at Stackpole.Â He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father;Â two aunts, Ginger Stidd of Erie and Bette Lou Macnamara of Annapolis, MD; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
N. Douglas Erickson, 83, of 607 Johnson Mill Rd., Lewisburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
He was born June 23, 1931 in Ludlow, a son of the late Harry G. and Lois (Atkins) Erickson. On Sept. 17, 1955 he married the former, Janice Bower, who preceded him in death on July 2, 1988. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage.
Angeline Gabriel, 90, of 158 Old Smethport Road, died Sunday (Aug. 24, 2014) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 11, 1923, in Kane, she was a daughter ofÂ the late Anthony and Mary Gerarge Migliazzo. On May 13, 1944, in Kane, she married Edward Gabriel who preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1997.
John E. Zook, 77, of 307Â W. Hemlock Ave., Kane, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Sept. 11, 1936, in Kane, he was a son of the late John E. and Ruth Gilbert Zook. On Dec. 26, 1959 in Kane, he married Sandra Orcutt who survives.
John, a well-known Kane businessman, was the owner of Zook Motors which is one of Kane's oldest businesses. He was very active andÂ community-minded and was always there to help or give to the community in so many different ways. Zook Motors could always be counted on when a cause was at hand and money had to be raised.Â
Mary â€śShirleyâ€ť Oâ€™Neil Lathrop, 65, of Bradford, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at UPMC Hamot, Erie.
She was born Dec. 7, 1948 in Kane, the daughter of the late Charles and Shirley Carlson Oâ€™Neil.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Lathrop, three sons, Larry, Ben and John; one daughter, Susan, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Scott.
At her request private services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
