Jesse A. Fithian, 98, formerly of Northern Area Homes, Russell, died Saturday evening, Nov. 5, 2011 at the Warren Manor after a brief illness.Â
He was born Sept. 8, 1913 in Butler, to the late James Herbert and Carrie Mae Parker Fithian. He has resided in Russell since 2001 and was formerly of Parker and Titusville. He was a graduate of Parker High School Class of 1932.

Richard L. “Dick” Clevenger Sr. of James City, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 17, 1938, in Fisher, he was a son of Benjamin and Dorothy Rhodes Clevenger.
Mr. Clevenger served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. Later in Life, he joined the Army National Guard and served with the Kane Unit for 20 years. During that time they were deployed for service in support of Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.

Gertrude C. Frey Sleeman, 92, of Youngsville, and formerly a resident of Clarendon, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 at the Rouse Warren County Home.

George Preston Simon Jr., 92, a former resident of Perry County for 35 years and currently of Chapel Pointe, Carlisle, died on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 14, 1919 in Mt. Jewett, to the late George P. and Bertha Rathburn Simon.
Janis M. Sample, 53, of 148 School St., Kane, and formerly of Wilcox, died on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on August 19, 1958 in Ridgway, daughter of Thomas J. and Dorothy Dush Redmond.
She married Jeffrey A. Sample on May 14, 1982. He survives.
She resided in Kane for the last 22 years. She graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School, Class of 1976 and from Median Technical School of Pittsburgh as an Animal Health Tech. She was employed by Kinzua Veterinary Clinic in Warren for 10 years.

Robert Loyd Lankard, 86, of Meadville, passed away, Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the Meadville Medical Center after a three-month period of failing health.
Born Nov. 20, 1924 in Harris, Kansas, he was the son of Jasper and Minnie Milliman Lankard. He married Beverly R. Witherell on Dec. 16, 1973 at the Kane Baptist Church.Â
Judith E. Lang, 96, formerly of JoJo Road, Kane, died Friday evening, Oct. 28, 2011 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Nov. 22, 1914 in Suffolk, Va., she was the daughter of Francis M. and Bernice C. Butler Pierce. On Aug. 23, 1943 in Fort Story, Va., she married Donald W. Lang, Jr., who died in 2003.
Mrs. Lang served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII at Walter Reed Hospital and Woodrow Wilson General Hospital. Later, she was the school nurse at Sheffield High School and worked at the Summit Hospital and Community Hospital, both in Kane.
Gladys E. “Rusty” Johnston, 86, of 15 W. Willow St., Smethport, formerly of Mt. Jewett, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 24, 1925, in Ridgway, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Alta Van Order Moran. On Dec. 9, 1945, in Kane, she married Richard Johnston who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Johnston is survived by a daughter, Kathleen “Kittie” (Jim) McCormack of Mt. Jewett; two grandsons, Chris (Miriam) McCormack of Pittsburgh and Jay (Marcie Srun) McCormack of Moscow, Idaho; and five great-grandchildren, Wren, Jayne, Sunny, Claire and Kacey McCormack.
