Merle D. Peters, 84, of 431 Smithfield, Kane, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at his residence.
Born Aug. 11, 1928, in Sergeant, he was a son of the late Ollie and Hattie McDonald Peters.Â On Sept. 12, 1947, in Johnsonburg, he married Norma Akers who preceded him in death.
Mr. Peters worked as a trackman for Conrail for many years.Â He served in the National Guard during World War II.
Robert A. Larson, 92, of 119 Poplar St., Kane, died Friday morning, June 28, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he recently resided.
Born May 16, 1921 in Kane, he was the son of Harry C. and Anna C. Benson Larson. On July 12, 1952 in Kane, he married Helen E. Withington, who survives.
A 1939 graduate of Kane Area High School, Mr. Larson served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946, serving in the Pacific Theatre and was stationed at Iwo Jima.Â He was an instructor of range finding units in Camp Stewart, Ga., and was discharged as a Tech Sergeant.
Edna R. Spangler, 77, of 109 Clay St., Kane, died unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Born Sept. 26, 1935 in Spring Creek, she was the daughter of Opal and Cora Cisco Spangler.Â On Aug. 3, 1955 in Fredrick, Md., she married Charles R. Spangler, who died in 1991.
Edna was an Avon Representative for many years.Â She was a life member of the VFW Post #1132 in Kane and it's Ladies Auxiliary.Â She was Catholic by faith.
Ralph G. Faull, 82, of Mt. Jewett, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Monday, June 24, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1930, in Karns City, he was a son of the late William Lee and Cornie Minteer Faull.Â On Oct. 27, 1961, at Nebo Chapel, he married Marguerite Magnuson who survives.
A 1948 graduate of Bradford High School, he then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952.
Episcopalian by faith, Ralph was a member and lay reader at St. Margaretâ€™s Episcopal Church in Mt. Jewett.
Ralph G. Faull, 82, of Mt. Jewett, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Monday, June 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Â Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. Vicky Stillwagon Holman, 52, of Cherry Grove, passed away peacefully in UPMC Hamot Hospital, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 7 a.m.
She was born Jan. 30, 1961 in Fayette County to the late Frank and Joyce Flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Kenny Holman, of Cherry Grove; a son, Pike Stillwagon, of Cherry Grove; a step-son, Lee Stillwagon; a mother-in-law, Candice Holman; a father-in-law, Gary Holman; and a nephew, Bobby Carlson and wife Kristy.
In addition to her parents, Vicky was preceded in death by her first husband, Dave Stillwagon (2001); and a son, Josh Stillwagon (2007).
Virginia D. Olson, 96,Â died Friday afternoon, June 21, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she had resided.Â Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.
John D. "Jack" Maze, 77, of 449 Treasure Lake, DuBois, formerly of Richardson Ave., Lewis Run, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
Born April 23, 1936, in Kane, he was a son of the late Samuel E. and Geneva (Carlson) Maze.
On Nov. 30, 1963, at St. Francis Church he married Eleanor (Kopelack) Maze who survives him.
Edward D. "Eddie Pete" Peterson, 77, of 908 Welsh St., Kane, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2013 in the E.R. of the Kane Community Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born Feb. 3, 1936 in Kane, he was the son of Edward S. and Cora P. Detwiler Peterson.Â On April 25, 1969 in Johnsonburg, he married Ann J. Mays, who survives.
Mr. Peterson was an operator for Pennsylvania American Water Co. for over 25 years, and was a union steward for the company.
Carmela Ann "Melly"Â Napolitan, 83, of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the BRMC Pavilion in Bradford.
Born May 25, 1930, in Hazel Hurst,Â she was a daughter of the late Michael and Antoinette Santaniello Napolitan.
Ms. Napolitan was a graduate of Mansfield University and began her teaching career in Savona, N.Y., in 1952. Later she served as an elementary teacher for 42 years in the Bradford Area School District, retiring in 1995.
Carmela was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and the St. Joseph's Rosary Society.
