Alan J. Brooder of Tonawanda died March 7, 2013. Beloved husband of Claire (nee Dzialdowski) Brooder; devoted father of Douglas, Kevin (Angela) and Anthony (Angelique) Brooder; cherished grandfather of Matthew and Timothy; loving son of the late Clinton and Frances Brooder; also survived by relatives and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home, (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. near Eggert/Sheridan Dr. on Monday from 5-8 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ameliaâ€™s Church, 2999 Eggert Rd., Tonawanda on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
Peter R. Romanick, 88, of Natrona Heights, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 with his family there.Â
He was born June 16, 1924, in Blairsville, the son of the late Peter and Mary Polka Romanick. Peter was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army.Â
He was stationed in the southern Philippines, Louzon and New Guniea. Peter received the Purple Heart, southern Philippines theater ribbon with three bronze stars, American theater ribbon, Philippine Liberation ribbon with 1 bronze star, the Good Conduct ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the bronze star medal with 10 oak leaf clusters.
Harry Franklin Myers, age 80, died March 5, 2013 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Myers; two sons, Donald Myers and wife Denise of New Jersey, and Daniel Myers and wife Heidi of Minnesota; a stepdaughter, Lori Hill of Ohio; and eight granddaughters, Kelly, Samantha, Kayla, Christina, Stephanie, Nicole, Courtney and Hannah.
Leonard T. Haight, 80, of 162 New Jersey Ave., James City, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2013 at the Bradford Manor, where he resided for two days.
Born Jan. 23, 1933 in James City, he was the son of Garland D. and Barbara M. Maze Haight. On July 24, 1955 in Kane, he married Barbara A. Beatty, who died in 1998.
Mr. Haight servedÂ in the U.S. Army, 112th Infantry during the Korean War.Â A tool and die maker by trade, he later owned and operated the James City Cafe for 20 years.
He was a member of VFW Post 1132 and the Fraternal Order ofÂ Eagles, both in Kane, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Joseph J. Dangelo, 82, of Warren, died Sunday morning, March 3, 2013 at Warren General Hospital after an illness since Nov. 9, 2012.
Rosalia Salerno, 85, of Bradford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at the Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug.17, 1927 in San Fratello, Italy, a daughter of the late Benedetto and Carmela Franchina Artino.
Mrs. Salerno immigrated to America in 1960 with her son. Her first sight of America was the Statue of Liberty, from the railing of a passenger ship, on a very cloudy and cold January day.
Donna L. Carlsson, 74, of Haycock Twp., Bucks County, formerly of Kane, passed away unexpectedlyÂ Sunday morning, March 3, 2013 in St. Lukeâ€™s Hospital, Bethlehem.
Born Nov. 10, 1938 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Fred and Edna Larson Wirth. She married the Rev. Dr. Andrew E. Carlsson, with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last August.
Marjorie J. "Jean"Â Russell,Â 85, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she had resided for the past 18 months.
Born June 8, 1927, in Frewsburg, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Bertel and Gladys Davidson Carlson.Â On May 15, 1948, at Moriah Lutheran Church in Ludlow, she married Hyle L. Russell who preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1963.
John Stiles, 94, of 13 Blaisdall Ave., Bradford, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Kane, on March 26, 1918, he was a son of the late Ray and Carrie (Foulkrod) Stiles.
On June 26, 1948 in East Kane, he married Florence E. (Rutledge) Stiles, who died on Feb. 21, 2011.
Lennette Sue "Lennie" Jashurek, 60, of 226 Yarnell St., passed away Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2013 at her residence.
Born March 22, 1952, in Kane, she was a daughter ofÂ the late Joyce E. Hulings Woods and the late Leonard J. Weatherbee. On May 10, 1970, in Portville, N.Y., she married Robert "Bob" Jashurek who preceded her in death.Â Â
Lennie was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest enjoyments in life were her children and grandchildren.Â She loved going for walks, gardening, scrapbooking, knitting and doing crafts with her grandchildren.
