Charles H. âCharlieâ Stauffer, age 86, of Overbrook, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
He was the beloved husband of Marguerite L. for 63 years; father of Karen (Bob) Clager, Chuck (Carol), Linda (Joe) Paul, Russell and the late Harry; loving grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.Â Charlie was a proud U.S. Marine veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of the Boilermaker Union, Local #154.Â Â
Frank Trulik, 84, previously of Lamont, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Aug. 7, 1926, in Lamont, he was a son of the late Martin and Barbara Simun Trulik.
Frank spent most of his life as a farmer and woodworker and was known for his log cabin-style birdhouses.Â He was affectionately referred to as the âMayorâ of Lamont and constructed Trulik Springs in 1977, which still bears his name.
He served in the Army during WW II.Â He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Carla E. Hilty, 78, of 30 Hemlock Ave., died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born April 20, 1932, in Natrona Heights, she was a daughter of the late Victor R. and Ethel Nyquist Hilty.
A graduate of Wilcox High School and Grove City College in 1954, she taught English and German at Kane Area High School for 35 years prior to retirement. She also had attended Penn State.
Barbara Ann Bray 81, formerly of 502 Walnut St., died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Sept. 11, 1929, in Kane, she was a daughter of Edwin and Dora Engman Hallberg.Â On May 29, 1949, in Kane, she married Harry N. Bray who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bray, a graduate of Kane High School Class of 1947, was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.Â Before her retirement, she had been employed as a clerk at the former Market Basket in Kane.
Kathy J. Wolfgang, 51, of 784 Gibbs Hill Rd., died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
Born Sept. 28, 1959, in Kane, she was a daughter of Richard and Rita Donachy Wolfgang.
Ms. Wolfgang had been employed at Kane Screen.
Mary Ann Sobota, 73, of Lindholm Rd., died Monday, March 21, 2011, at Sena Kean Manor.
Born Dec. 1, 1937, in Kane, she was a daughter of Andrew and Hazel Lundgren Sobota.
Ms. Sobota had worked for Stackpole for many years and had also worked at the Hub in Smethport.Â She was a member of St. Josephâs Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett.
Surviving are a brother, Daniel Sobota, and a sister, Darlene Jashurek, both of Johnsonburg; and two nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her longtime companion, John Belinda.
Pearl A. Bradybaugh, 99, formerly of 43 Brickyard Rd. nearÂ East Kane, died Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born June 21, 1911 in East Kane, she was the daughter of Norman H. and Loie M. Knapp Quick.Â On May 30, 1928 in Kane, she married Harry A. Bradybaugh, who died in 1982.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bradybaugh was a member of the East Kane United Methodist Church and the Mountain Grange #1307 near Kane.
Thomas Ruggiers, 74, of 198 School St., died Tuesday, March 8, near his home in East Kane.
Born May 17, 1936, in Kane, he was a son of Joseph and Genevieve Anderson Ruggiers.Â On May 12, 1997, in Winchester, Va., he married Sherillyn Olson Johnson who survives.
Mr. Ruggiers was employed as a truck driver for UPS.Â He belonged to the Moose Lodge in Warren and the Rod and Gun Club in Lakewood, NY.
He served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962 with a rank of Radioman 2. He belonged to the Neosho Association which is an organization named after the ship on which he served.
Darlene M. Duck, 58, of 106 Clay St., died Monday, March 7, 2011, at her residence.
Born Dec. 30, 1952, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Wolbert Johnson.Â On Dec. 19, 1973, in Kane, she married Robert Duck who survives.
Mrs. Duck had been a bar manager at both the Vets Club and the Eagles Club in Kane.Â She was a loving mother to her children as well as to many others.
Joel H. Peterson, 54, of 6 Pete Ln., died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his residence.
Born July 19, 1956, in Kane, he was a son of the late Herbert and Viola Lundblad Peterson.Â
Mr. Peterson was self-employed as a window tinter.
