Helen Marie Rietter Lynde, 67, of Erie and formerly of Kane, died Oct. 2, 2013 and went to join her parents, son and brother.
Helen was born in Kane on Sept. 8, 1946 daughter of the late Francis and Edith Carlson Rietter.
She graduated from Kane Area High School in 1964, where she sang in the Kane Choralliers and also was a cheerleader.
Helen worked at the Hamlin Bank in Kane and married Tom Lynde who was in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1967.Â In 1968 they moved to Norfolk, Va., where Helen worked at Virginia National Bank until 1970 when they moved to Erie.Â
Brenda L. Emer, 44, of 142 New Jersey Ave. (P.O. Box 212) in James City, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2013 at UPMC ShadysideÂ in Pittsburgh after a series of courageous battles with cancer over 16 years.
Born Nov. 15, 1968 in Kane, she was the daughter of Wallace R. and Jo Ann Swanson Dyne.Â On Aug. 3, 1991 in Kane, she married Cy E. Emer, who survives.
Brenda was employed by the Kane Area School District and Jim Airgood Busing.Â She was an active member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, where served in the Altar Guild and played in the handbell choir.
Brenda L. Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, and also 985 Valencia Estates, Lakeland, Fla, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
He was born in Erie on Jan. 18, 1938, the son of the late Clarence and Ann (Zelinski) Francis. He graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1956 and was employed at Hammermill International Paper for 42 1/2 years.Â He also had owned and operated the Instant Heartburn Sausage Trailer for many years.
Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.Â Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.
Robert L. Fiscus, 68, of 415 Haines St., Kane, died Thursday evening, Sept. 26, 2013 in the Kane Community Hospital Emergency Room.
Born Oct. 25, 1944 in Kane, he was the son of Braden E. and Martha E. Marshall Fiscus Sr.Â On Nov. 9, 1974 in Kane, he married Donna L. Bizzak, who survives.
Mr. Fiscus worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Sheffield for many years, then for Kane Manufacturing for 27 years.
He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Henry P. Feikls, 89, of Kane, died Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Kane, Pa., after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 3, 1924, in Erie, Pa., a son of the late Rudolph and Mary Mraz Feikls.
William R. Bloss Jr. age 76, of Ashland, Ohio, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at his residence.Â
He was born July 23, 1937 in Kane to the late William and Grace (Anderson) Bloss.Â He had worked and retired from the Warren County schools in Pennsylvania and had been the Emergency Management coordinator of Sheffield Township in Pennsylvania. Mr. Bloss served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and the U.S. Army for 23 years. He was a member of the Perrysville Baptist Church, Kane Lodge F&AM #566 and the Coudersport Consistory.
James H. â€śSlipâ€ť Compton, 67, of 6753 Rte. 59, Lewis Run, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Jan. 17, 1946, in Kane, he was a son of the late Victor and Viola Porter Compton.
In 1962, he entered the U.S. Army Ranger Airborne and served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was wounded in 1971 and was honorably discharged.
Once home, he was employed by several different oil companies as a drill hand, retiring in 2003Â due to illness. He also had been a member of the Lafayette Township V.F.D. where he served as a fire policeman.
Gary R. Bush, 59, of Smethport, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.
He was born Nov. 5, 1953 in Kane, a son of Ralph and June Thayer Bush.
On Aug. 9, 1975, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Lewis Run, he married Marian M. Farrell, who survives.
Gary was a 1971 graduate of Kane High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He owned and operated Bush Trucking Co. in Smethport and was co-owner of the Smethport Drive-In with his wife, Marian.Â
