Ann K. Powell, 87, formerly of Wilcox, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Aug. 28, 1924, in James City, she was a daughter of Joseph and Anna MishulkÂ Gezik. She had been married to Norbert Powell who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one sister, Mary Morgan of James City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by three children and five brothers.
Mr. William J. â€śBuzzâ€ť Paris, 80, unexpectedly passed into the next life at his residence, Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.
He was born March 23, 1931 in Butler to the late William V. and Laura Smead Paris.
Mr. Paris served in the in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict as a Sgt. and D.I. of the 1st Marine Division. As an area resident, he owned and operated Buzzâ€™s Saw Shop, was self-employed as an independent logger and named 2000 Logger of the Year by AHUG, worked for his son Bud as a logger, Nortrim Loggerâ€™s Insurance Co., and a Sheffield Police Officer.
Anna M. Pierson, 87, of Sheffield, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Warren Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness.Â
She was born July 1, 1924 in Warren, to the late Andrew and Anna Hanusik Kujava.
She has resided in Sheffield area most of her entire life and was a 1942 graduate of Sheffield High School.Â Anna attended Tiona United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sheffield V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.Â She always enjoyed baking and being a grandmother and great-grandmother.Â
Larry Wilson, 80, of 406 Oak St., Kane, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, 2011Â in the Kane Community Hospital Emergency Room.
Born March 20, 1931 in James City, he was the son of William H. and Lucille K. Burton Wilson. On Feb. 8, 1958 in Kane, he married Lois A. Galvin, who survives.
Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, then was an operations supervisor for Columbia Gas Transmission for 34 years.Â He was a professional bird dog trainer for over 40 years, and a member of VFW Post #1132 in Kane.
Janet R. Mealy, 58, of 8595 Rt. 6, Kane, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.Â
Born Oct. 26, 1953, in Bradford, PA, a daughter of the late James "Ralph" Wolfe and Lois L. (Burns) Wolfe who survives her of Gastonia, NC.
On March 31, 1973 in St. Bernard Church she married the man she always loved Clayton E. Mealy who survives.
Mrs. Mealy was a 1971 graduate of Bradford Area High School. She had been an in house nanny for many years and a stay at home mom where she home schooled her children.
Margaret Costanzo, 87, formerly of 222 Janeway Street, died Tuesday morning (December 20, 2011) at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born September 12, 1924, in Kane, she was a daughter of Angelo and Margaret Discello Costanzo.
Before retirement, Miss Costanzo had been employed at the former Houston Electronics in Kane.Â She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving are one sister, Lena Costanzo of Smethport and several nieces and nephews.
James J. â€śJimâ€ť Salvamoser, 71, of 349 Kinzua Avenue, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.
Born Jan. 9, 1940, in Kane, he was a son of Francis â€śFrankâ€ť and Julia Powley Salvamoser.Â On Aug. 26, 1961, in Mt. Jewett, he married Marjorie Kimbrough who survives. Jim and Margie recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Ruth L. Landfair, 92, of 103 High Point Dr., died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1919, in New Alexandria, she was a daughter of John H. and Laura Taylor Gallagher. On July 7, 1941, in West Virginia, she married Harry W. Landfair who preceded her in death in 1973.
Mrs. Landfair was one of Jehovahâ€™s Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Kane. Ruth loved watching birds and wildlife, growing flowers, and reading the Bible.
Lloyd R. McAllen, 92, formerly of Lantz Corners, then Central Towers in Kane, died Thursday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2011, at the Bradford Manor.
Born June 17, 1919 in Kane, he was the son of Daniel W. and Ruth N. Becker McAllen.Â On Feb. 28, 1948, he married DoloresÂ A. "Dee" Mitsch, who survives.
After graduating from Kane Area Schools in 1938, Mr. McAllen served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific-Philippine Liberation, and was awarded five medals and the Purple Heart.Â
Irvin D. â€ťCutterâ€ť Strawcutter of 4258 Niles Hill Rd., Wellsville, N.Y. passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Cuba Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
Mr. Strawcutter was born Nov. 28, 1935 in Brookville, Pa., the son of Ray Edward and Evelyn McManigle Strawcutter. On March 8, 2009 in Cuba, N.Y., he married the former Sharon Lounsberry who survives.
Cutter was a graduate of Kane High School, class of 1955. After graduation he served in the Army as a Ranger for two years. He then worked for National Fuel Gas as a Field Supervisor in the Regulator Dept. for 35 years retiring in 1997.
