After diagnosing Terika Schleicher with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, doctors believed she would never be able to walk because the neurological condition would negatively affect both of Schleicherâ€™s arms and legs.
The doctorsâ€™ worries didnâ€™t stop there.
Because of a stroke before her birth, a portion of Schleicherâ€™s brain wasnâ€™t able to form correctly. Instead, an arachnoid cyst grew to take the place of the damaged tissue. Doctors werenâ€™t sure if she would ever be able to talk or attend a regular school.
Earlier this year I wrote about fishing charters and photography. In that article I recommended that taking a camera, either on a small Lake Erie charter, or a larger ocean charter, can be quite worthwhile. You never know what you may encounter and without a camera to record it, no one may believe you. After all, fishermen are known to tell tall tales!
