The Kane Lady Wolves volleyball team looked like they were going to make it a quick night in their season opener against St Marys, winning the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-10. The Lady Dutch, however, were not anxious to leave Kane and won the next two sets by a scores of 25-23, setting up the fifth and final set. The home team trailed 14-11 at one point, but rallied to win the set 16-14 to win the match and start the season 1-0.
On a muggy, soggy afternoon, the Wolvesâ€™ cross country teams dropped all contested races to the Bradford Owls in a 50-15 loss despite having quality showings from several veteran and new athletes.
In the middle school races, Kane would not be able to field full teams for the outing, resulting in 50-15 losses.
It was a tale of two halves in Tuesdayâ€™s season opener for the Kane Wolves boys soccer team.
Coach Ernie Chamberlainâ€™s young team came out inspired, and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. The visiting Smethport Hubbers answered with one of their own in the first half, but dominated the second half on their way to an 8-1 win.
