Kaneâ€™s Kaila Jamerson needed two points entering Wednesday nightâ€™s game with the Ridgway Lady Elkers to climb atop the Lady Wolvesâ€™ all-time scoring list.
Ridgway boys basketball used a 17-0 second half run to pull away from the Kane Wolves en route to a 63-43 victory Wednesday night as part of Senior Night.
Kane had kept with the Elkers in the first half and trailed 34-30 entering the third quarter. The Elkers then scored 17 straight points to bulge the lead to 21 past the midpoint of the third quarter.
The Kane Wolvesâ€™ wrestling team won all five matches contested on the mat during Tuesday match against Oswayo Valley in the Wolvesâ€™ Den. The Wolves and the Green Wave each received four forfeits but the Wolves took care of business on the mat on their Senior Recognition dual match with the team from Shinglehouse.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Kane senior Kaila Jamerson wouldn't let the Lady Wolves lose to the Ramettes Monday night.
A series of six straight points by Jamerson would propel the Lady Wolves first into double overtime and then to a lead Kane would not relinquish as the Lady Wolves won 42-37 in double overtime over Johnsonburg Monday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Kane Wolves hung with the visiting Johnsonburg Rams for the first five minutes of Mondayâ€™s game but the Rams exploded for a 40-8 finish to the first half to send them on their way to an 80-44 win.
Both teams struggled in the early going.
The Kane Lady Wolvesâ€™ basketball team improved to 13-3 on the season with a win over Sheffield on Friday night in the Wolvesâ€™ Den, but it wasnâ€™t easy. The visitors led for most of the first three quarters of the contest before Kane erased a big deficit in the third and converted six of six free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
The Kane Wolves boysâ€™ basketball team made the long trek to Curwensville on Wednesday night in a makeup game from early in the season. The trip was worth it as the varsity Wolves used big second and third quarters to propel them to a 63-45 win while Kaneâ€™s junior varsity team won a thriller 34-33.
In my last adventure I was deep in the wilderness in southwestern Alaska. I had flown from Anchorage to a small village called King Salmon. From King Salmon I took a float plane into the heart of Katmai National Park where I would stay for the next two and a half days.
The two teams battled it out in two overtimes with the Rams eventually winning the contest by a score of 46-38.
The Kane Wolvesâ€™ wrestling team hosted the Bradford Owls on Tuesday night but it was a short night for both teams as only four matches were decided on the mat. Kane won three of the four bouts wrestled, with all three coming via pin.
