Playing just one good quarter does not win many basketball games.
The Kane High Wolves found this out Friday night in their season opener at home.
Kane wrestling head coach Mike Swartwood does not have a huge roster, with 15 athletes on the team competing for spots in 14 weight classes. While the quantity of wrestlers on the squad don’t give coach Swartwood much wiggle room for maneuvering, the quality of the wrestlers that he can put on the mat would make most high school coaches jealous.
The Kane Lady Wolves basketball team will have a decidedly new look this season. Gone are seven familiar faces to graduation, including Kane all-time leading scorer Kaila Jamerson and all-time assist leader Dawn Saquin.
Kane head coach Dave Kiehl, now in his sixth season at the helm of the Lady Wolves, will have to find players capable of getting the ball in the hoop. According to Kiehl’s figures, the returning players scored an average of seven points per game of the Lady Wolves 50-point average last season.
New coach. New uniforms. New system. Kane Wolves basketball fans should be ready for some changes between last year’s team and the 2013-2014 Wolves.
