These five Kane wrestlers were named to the Allegheny Mountain Wrestling League All-Star Team for the 2012-2013 season.
March 31st
I have people coming up to me constantly and saying, you must have a lot of patience to do nature photography. I always give them a little chuckle when I’m asked this. I want to tell them yes I do, but I also want to tell them the different circumstances I get myself into on the way to that good nature shot. I say, and firmly believe, that a good nature photographer definitely has to be at the right place at the right time.
March 29th
The Kane High School team is in its inaugural season and has 24 team members on the squad.
March 28th
Kane residents Chris and Randy Haight finished first among 82 teams at the District Eagles Pool Tournament held at the Brookville Eagles Club.
March 27th
This week, Kane High School and Smethport Elementary and High Schools released brook trout fingerling that they have been raising as part of Pennsylvania Trout In the Classroom program. The McKean County Conservation District partnered with the schools to coordinate this event and helped release the fingerlings in Twomile Run at Wildcat Park. This is the end of a yearlong adventure for the students, who have been raising the trout from eggs as part of the TIC program. The students released the fish and also learned about aquatic invasive species, fly casting, and in-stream habitat.
March 26th
Team "Aftershock" competed in the N.Y. State Moose Association 3-on-3 "March Madness" basketball tournament held at the Lakewood YMCA on Saturday - March 23.
March 25th
HARRISBURG – Ten wrestlers from the Kane youth wrestling program earned the right to participate in the 51st Annual Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championship Tournament last Friday and Saturday in Harrisburg. Aiden Hulings was the top finisher for the Kane contingent, competing in the 11 and 12 age division, 100-pound weight class.
March 22nd
HERSHEY – Johnsonburg boys basketball's season did not end as sweet as the Rams would have hoped for.
But in the end, Johnsonburg made the District 12 champion Vaux Cougars work to earn their gold medals.
Vaux defeated Johnsonburg 83-63 in the PIAA Class A boys basketball championship game Friday afternoon at Giant Center.
March 21st
The Kane Lady Wolves finished the 2012 season with an 8-8 record but showed a lot of improvement over the course of the year. The highlight of the season was a 5-1 late-season victory over eventual District 9 A Champions Elk County Catholic.
Kane girls’ track and field coach Jim Sirianni has a solid group of athletes returning for him this season, led by three standout seniors.
