March 8th
WEXFORD â âWe were just outclassed.â
Thatâs how Kane coach Dave Kiehl described Fridayâs 67-16 loss to Seton-LaSalle in a Class AA state girls basketball playoff game here at North Allegheny High School.
Seton-LaSalle, the defending Class AA state champion, dominated with a smothering full-court zone press for three quarters. Kane had major trouble bringing the ball upcourt against the press. The Rebels converted a flurry of steals into easy layups.
March 7th
The two Kane wrestlers that qualified for the PIAA Wrestling Championships began their quest for a state medal on Thursday morning at Hershey's Giant Center.
March 6th
It's been an unprecedented great run for the seven seniors on the Kane High School girls basketball team.
In the past four seasons, the Lady Wolves have won 84 games. That's the most ever over a four-year period for the girls basketball program, according to Kane coach Dave Kiehl.
âDuring the time when I was playing for him, Pat was working at Stackpole, plus he had a second job in addition to officiating high school basketball games, and he was a single parent,â John Knapp says. âHis dedication to the kids and to the game still amazes me. He was very much a man of the World War II generation, the âgreatest generationâ some call it. Men like my dad, Bill Knapp, and Norm Wile, Jim Perry, Jack Flower and Bill Wilson were positive influences to us as young kids. Between coaching at the Y and at Glenwood, Jack Flower was an enduring influence to generations of youngsters.â

Being on the receiving end of Pat Santilliâs frequent rant âyouâre a doggone dummyâ was a badge of honor for generations of young baseball players.

I never knew what a bucket list was until the Jack Nicholson movie came out. I thought a bucket list would be a fun idea, so I decided to make my own. If anyone out there doesnât know what a âbucket listâ is, itâs simple; things you would like to do and see before you kick the bucket, so to speak. I donât plan on kicking that bucket for quite some time, so in my ever increasing youthful pilgrimage through life, I actually do have my own âbucket list,â as probably many people out there as young as I am also have.

The Kane Cheer Club traveled to the Champion Cheer Central March Madness Regional at McDowell High School in Erie, this past Saturday and came home with a fifth-place finish in the Large Varsity Division as well as a first-place finish in the Varsity Non-tumble Division.Â
SHARON â It was a big weekend for Kaneâs Evan Delong. The Wolves junior won the 100th match of his career on Friday night, then won his second consecutive Northwest Regional Title on Saturday.
Delong advances to the PIAA Championship Tournament, which begins this Thursday in Hershey. Joining him will be teammate and fellow junior Cody Blankenship, who took second place in the 113-pound weight class.
March 1st
SHARON â A pair of Kane wrestlers are in the regional semifinals after the first day of action at the Northwest Regional Championships at Sharon High School.
Cody Blankenship of Kane advanced at 113 pounds and Evan Delong went to the semis at 160 pounds.
CLARION â The fifth time wasnât a charm for the Kane Lady Wolves basketball team. The 2012-2013 Lady Wolves tried to win the programâs first district title in five trips to the finals on Friday night in the Class AA championship game against Brookville but came up on the short end of a 63-51 decision.
