The Kane Boysâ€™ Track and Field team put the finishing touches on an undefeated dual meet season with victories over Elk County Catholic (105-51) and Johnsonburg (105-25) on Tuesday afternoon in St Marys.
The Kane Wolves baseball team defeated the Johnsonburg Rams 11-7 on Tuesday at Pat Santilli Field. The win was the first of the season for the Wolves, who were playing in only their second home game of 2014.
The Kane softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to the Curwensville Golden Tide on Monday at Flickerwood Field. The Lady Wolves, playing in their first game in two weeks and their first home contests since April 10, dropped the first game 10-0 in six innings and lost to the Lady Tide 11-1 in the nightcap, also in six innings.
The Kane girlsâ€™ track and field team traveled to Altoonaâ€™s Mansion Park on Friday evening to take part in the West Central Coaches Track Championship meet. The Lady Wolves finished in sixth place out of the 30 competing AA schools with 41 points. The Johnsonburg girls finished in first place in AA.
The Kane boysâ€™ track and field team placed in 11 of 18 events at Fridayâ€™s West Central Coaches Track and Field Championship. The Wolves finished in third place out of 37 AA teams at the meet, which took place Friday evening at Altoonaâ€™s Mansion Park.
Former Kane Wolvesâ€™ head football coach Dick Smith will become the third inductee to the Kane All-Sports Booster Clubâ€™s Hall of Fame later this month, the club announced recently.
Kane High School Physical Education teacher Adam Smelko finished fifth overall in Sundayâ€™s Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon in Canton, Ohio. Smelko crossed the finish line in 2:48.46 which is more than 10 minutes better than his previous best for a marathon.
Ridgway baseball used a nine-run second inning to break Monday's game open in a 16-5 five-inning victory over Kane Monday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
The Kane boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ track and field teams competed in the prestigious Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday. More than three dozen teams took part in the invitational, with more than 1,000 athletes from across Pennsylvania competing.
