January 28th, 2013
JOHNSONBURG – Kane senior Kaila Jamerson wouldn't let the Lady Wolves lose to the Ramettes Monday night.
A series of six straight points by Jamerson would propel the Lady Wolves first into double overtime and then to a lead Kane would not relinquish as the Lady Wolves won 42-37 in double overtime over Johnsonburg Monday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Kane Wolves hung with the visiting Johnsonburg Rams for the first five minutes of Monday’s game but the Rams exploded for a 40-8 finish to the first half to send them on their way to an 80-44 win.
Both teams struggled in the early going.
January 25th
The Kane Lady Wolves’ basketball team improved to 13-3 on the season with a win over Sheffield on Friday night in the Wolves’ Den, but it wasn’t easy. The visitors led for most of the first three quarters of the contest before Kane erased a big deficit in the third and converted six of six free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
January 24th
The Kane Wolves boys’ basketball team made the long trek to Curwensville on Wednesday night in a makeup game from early in the season. The trip was worth it as the varsity Wolves used big second and third quarters to propel them to a 63-45 win while Kane’s junior varsity team won a thriller 34-33.
January 23rd
In my last adventure I was deep in the wilderness in southwestern Alaska. I had flown from Anchorage to a small village called King Salmon. From King Salmon I took a float plane into the heart of Katmai National Park where I would stay for the next two and a half days.
The two teams battled it out in two overtimes with the Rams eventually winning the contest by a score of 46-38.
January 22nd
The Kane Wolves’ wrestling team hosted the Bradford Owls on Tuesday night but it was a short night for both teams as only four matches were decided on the mat. Kane won three of the four bouts wrestled, with all three coming via pin.
January 21st
The Elk County Catholic Crusaders held the Kane Wolves to only 11 first half points in Monday’s game in the Wolves’ Den. The Wolves played a better second half with the two teams playing pretty evenly the rest of the way but the Crusaders left town with a 59-41 win.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders used a strong third quarter to outscore the Kane Lady Wolves by a 10-4 margin then played Kane even in the fourth quarter to hold on for a 38-36 victory.
January 20th
The Kane Cheer Club went to Keystone on Saturday and came home in second place in small varsity and also won the Sportsmanship Award from the entire afternoon session. "It was good to finally get the beginning and end of our routine," said coach Chris Niklaus.
