JOHNSONBURG â€“ Johnsonburg rebounded from an opening loss to Smethport with a 10-3 win over Kane Wednesday afternoon at Knothole Area Recreational Park.
Cole Peterson starred on the mound for the Rams as he tossed the first five innings. He allowed three hits and one unearned run. He walked one and struck out 11. Peterson was also 1 for 1 with a walk and reached base twice when he was hit by a pitch.
The Kane girlsâ€™ track and field waited an extra week to open their home track season but it was worth the wait as the Lady Wolves rolled over Northern Potter by a 106-39 score. Kayla Kerner was a quadruple winner for Kane and was backed up by triple winners Morgan Nicholson and Camryn Cummings.
The Kane boysâ€™ track and field team hosted the Northern Potter Panthers on Tuesday, a week after the original meet was postponed. The Wolves lost the first event of the afternoon, the 3200-meter relay, but won the other 17 events on their way to a 130-19 win.

The Kane girlsâ€™ track and field team made their annual trip south to Saturdayâ€™s Altoona Igloo Invitational. The Kane teams were scheduled to open their season on Tuesday, but the home meet against Northern Potter was postponed until this week, making Saturday the first outdoor competition of the year.
The Kane boysâ€™ track team started off the 2014 well with some solid performances at Saturdayâ€™s Altoona Igloo Invitational. The team was led on the track by Chris Hunt, Nate Moore, Bailey Colson, Hunter Yasurek and Chris Udovich, according to coach Tom Cecchetti. All four Kane relay teams placed in the invitational.
CLARION â€“ Kane's Jeff Kocjancic and Camryn Cummings have been recognized as part of the All American Awards and Engraving/D9sports.com All-District 9 boys and girls basketball awards and teams.
Kocjancic was named third team with an average of 15 points-per-game.
Cummings was named co-rookie of the year along with Brookville's Hali Olson.
CLEARFIELD â€” Bart Snyder of Olean, N.Y., who bowls out of Byllye Lanes in Bradford, took home top honors in the District 4 Gold Pin Club tournament held Sunday at Clearfield Lanes. 38 club members and guests, 27 boys and 11 girls, started the afternoon off with a three-game qualifying series with Ryan Mitskavich of DuBois being the tournament leader with a high game of 279 and a 673 series.
HARRISBURG â€“ Aiden Hulings, an eighth-grader at Kane Middle School, won the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championship for 11-and-12-year-olds in the 125-pound weight class this past weekend at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
The Kane Wolves wrestling team was well-represented on the AML All-Star team.
